A couple of weeks ago I made my ugly mouse pad fabulous! Since I’m one of those matchy matchy kind of girls, I decided to make some clips to coordinate! I am so happy with the results!
For this project, you are going to need:
Mod Podge, cheapie foam brush, scissors, clips and paper or felt in a print that you adore! I went with felt because I like that it’s fuzzy :) In the DIY, I’m going to say felt, but remember you can use paper, also!
STEP 1: Get the width by tracing your clip on the wrong side of the felt and cut out a long rectangle that width. You can notch the top of the felt to match the shape of your clip and prevent any plastic showing through, but that is optional based on how nitpicky you are. I, am incredibly nitpicky, so I notched it.
STEP 2: Using your foam brush, slather one side of the clip with Mod Podge. Push the felt onto the clip, making sure it’s positioned just so. Now – set it down and walk away. You can continue but you’re going to wind up ticking yourself off. It is so much easier to let this one side dry and come back. I promise.
STEP 3: Cover the bottom of the clip with Mod Podge and cover with felt. You’ll need to push your finger down in the dip that the plastic makes for it to secure itself. Just as a reference, I held mine for about 5 minutes and all but one of my clips held fast to the curve.
STEP 4: Fold up the remaining felt and see where the edge should be cut and trim accordingly – notching it like you did in step 1 if you choose. You can always cut to fit before gluing on, but if you’re using felt, remember that it stretches! You may have the perfect shape when you start, and still have to cut it to size at the end. Slather on some more Mod Podge, push the felt on and finagle until it fits well. Allow to dry a day or so before using.
That’s it! I hope that you enjoy your new cool clips and that your week has been going well!
