I’m really happy that Rob and I are starting to nest a little bit. The house is still a mess but by golly we have pictures on the walls! Well, in some rooms at least :)
The first thing that was put on the walls was the TV in the bedroom. It’s a little thing my sister and I scored by sitting in the frozen food aisle at Walmart for hours the night of Thanksgiving. And some random dude bought us a pop so the camaraderie was at least there. Plus Jen and I kept trading off so that we could go and scope out where other things were being set up and all of that. Technically we went the moment they opened and watched them putting the things we really wanted like sheets and boys pajama sets so we knew exactly where to go and could formulate our plan of attack. Not many years have we not gotten everything on our Walmart Black Friday list. I guess we’re just awesome like that!
Basically I had been unwell and finding a doctor to take me in a town with too many people and too few doctors was a headache. And I just wanted to lay in my freaking bed and watch TV! Rob came in at the right time because I had this thing dangling from my arms and I was all sorts of pissy. But it got put up on the walls and I watched something to keep my mind off of things and I was happy.
I love finding little things and ways we can fancy up our space for little money. This burlap runner was about $6 and now it’s a nifty little thing with our initials on each end. And while lots of things I put out, take pics of and then put away for company or just so they don’t get ruined, this thing we’re actually using. Last night I noticed that the crumbs of a chocolate cupcake had fallen into the nap as we were eating supper but I didn’t even stress about it. <— I’m doing better about some things :)
I’m still in the process of getting things unpacked and the garage and guest rooms are horrors that would probably send Martha Stewart into a heart attack. But I’m working on what I can when I can and just staying out of those two places as much as I can. :) But for now, our dining room table is something to behold! We’ve got fresh flowers that my Rob gave me in the Pioneer Woman pitcher I just LOVE on our monogrammed burlap table runner.
It’s very quaint, quite cozy and does so much to warm up the house. So if you want to make something a little rustic and inexpensive, head on over to Mom Spark to see how I made this snazzy beast of a thing!
