HEY, HEY! DID YOU KNOW THAT I WROTE A BOOK ABOUT CRAFTING WITH ALCOHOL INKS THAT CAME OUT ON JANUARY 10, 2017? IT’S CALLED “CRAFTING WITH ALCOHOL INKS“. I KNOW, GENIUS, RIGHT?! :) THE BOOK IS AVAILABLE AT AMAZON AND BARNES AND NOBLE AND I’D JUST LOVE IF YOU CHECKED IT OUT TO SEE IF IT’S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT REALLY DIG!

I’m pretty excited because in a few days I’m going to be volunteering at an arts and science festival. I’ll be there helping little kids make their own marbled coasters but out of red, yellow and blue. The idea is for them to learn the science of colors. They’ll use primary colors and learn how to make secondary colors with them.

I love this project for a few reasons. I helped come up with the concept for one :) and blowing ink around with a straw is just dang fun. AND this is a really good way to learn about colors and how they blend together.

I also love that this is something that can easily be beautiful. Only on very few tiles have we been able to replicate a hot mess and that was largely due to an accidental drop of paint onto the tile that once wiped away removed the ink from a portion of the design.

I’m so looking forward to seeing those kiddos make something lovely they can be really proud of and I’m hoping that I can help them learn a valuable lesson about color, too!

To see how to make these in fun, Autumn colors (or get the gist so you can do this with primary colors for your kiddos) head on over to Mom Spark for the full tutorial and all the deets!
