The other day I was sitting at the doctor’s office and it was about as much fun as you expect the doctor’s office to be. It was a stressful day and my mind was stuck in this loop of how awful things were. I was hooking up a crochet hat which normally helps me keep my mind off of things. But this visit I had very little time just sitting around waiting. I was being shuffled here or there and talking to somebody new and it seemed like every time I busted my project out of the tote bag I was shoving it back in after only a few stitches.

I was frustrated and getting more and more stressed. And so I decided to keep my mind off of things by instead making a list of the things that I love. The things that make life worth living, you know? I’d spend those few idle minutes of peace typing up things into the notes on my phone. And I realized how much I love the hiss that fresh rain makes on dry cement… How oddly comforting the smell of the heater kicking on for the first time each winter (you know that odd burnt smell? Somehow I love it :)

And I decided that I love hearts because they’re adorable.

I had already hooked up some bobble heart hats and I was pretty pleased with how they turned out. And so I played around with different stitch patterns and clusters trying to find the perfect heart to adorn a new crochet hat pattern. Wouldn’t you just know I LOVE these heart hats?

p.s. I have a whole bunch of heart-shaped crafts and cute food if you love hearts, too!

Supplies Needed to Hook Love Hearts Crochet Beanies:

The Yarn

For one hat I used acrylic I Love This Yarn (from Hobby Lobby) using Ivory as the main color and Fire Red for FYI – my hats made with ivory yarn is much smaller than the hats made with red yarn. For some reason this lot had much thinner yarn, more like a weight 3, and I guess I didn’t notice. That is, until I set the hats down side by side. Whoopsie daisy!

The Hook

I’m currently obsessed with Furls Fiber Arts Hooks. For these I Love Bobbles beanies I used the gorgeous Supernova Streamline Galaxy Crochet Hook in Size H (5.5mm)

The Leather Garment Tags

The faux leather garment tags on the hats I purchased from Birch and Cider and these are the color Bamboo. I love this small business. Great quality, prices, and reasonable time between order and receiving the tags. Plus when you chat with her about proofs and whatnot, she’s super sweet!
