I don’t know about you, but I LOVE BOBBLES! There is something about that adorable polka-dotty texture you get from a combination of what amounts to double and single crochet stitches. And when I heard about a group that homemade accepts hats for Valentine’s Day I decided to go beyond just making pink or red hats… I wanted to make hats with hearts on them!
Oh, and if you’ll notice in the background up there I have another crochet heart pattern I’ve knocked up and I’ll be sharing it in the next day or two so keep your peepers peeled!
Want to make today’s adorable bobble beanie?
You know you do… and I can’t blame you :) Let’s get after it!
Supplies Needed to Hook a Love Bobbles Beanie:
The Yarn
For one hat I used acrylic I Love This Yarn (from Hobby Lobby) using Ivory as the main color and Fire Red for the bobbles. The second hat is also made with acrylic I Love This Yarn in the colors Fire Red and Soft Pink Bobbles.
The Hook
I’m currently obsessed with Furls Fiber Arts Hooks. For these I Love Bobbles beanies I used the gorgeous Supernova Streamline Galaxy Crochet Hook in Size H (5.5mm)
The Leather Garment Tags
The faux leather garment tags on the hats I purchased from Birch and Cider and these are the color Bamboo. I love this small business. Great quality, prices, and reasonable time between order and receiving the tags. Plus when you chat with her about proofs and whatnot, she’s super sweet!

Crochet the Stretchy Hat Band
The band is made using color A.
← Row 1:
FSC 6 leaving a tail of 4-6 inches.
→ Row 2:
CH 1 (does NOT count as first ST) and turn your work. BLOSC in every stitch. (6 ST)
Row 4-72:
Repeat row 2.
Chain 1 and match up the ends of the band making sure it does not twist. Match up the stitches of both ends and slip stitch the sides together. For more detailed information please visit this post.
Crochet the Hat Body
For the hat body you’ll use color B for your bobbles. All other work, including the bulk of the hat body and ribbing are made with color A. At the end of every round SL to first ST to join. Do not turn your work. This hat works inside out. Once finished you’ll turn inside out so that the heart-shaped bobbles are on the outside of the hat.
← Rnd 1-2:
CH 1. (CH at the beginning of RNDS does NOT count as first ST here or in any RND) SC in every ST. (72 ST)
