One thing was still missing: fun lunch bags! Those a very simple to make. It’s the same process as making fabric basket. You just need add handles and a zipper. I will suggest to use a thick cotton fabric. If you choose to work with thin fabric you will have to stiffen the fabric with interfacing. Let’s start sewing!
Choose two matching fabrics, one for outside and an other for the lining. In each fabric, cut a rectangle of 30′ x 10′ to make the bag. For the handles you gonna need two fabric rectangles of 12′ x 4′. You will also need a 12 inch long zipper.
Take the outside fabric, fold it in two lengthwise and sew the edges together.
Fold the bottom of the bag to make a tip and draw a line of about 5 inches long. Make a second tip on the opposite side.
Sew along the line on both side.
Cut the extra fabric. Returns the bag to get the fabric outward
Repeat the previous steps to make the same bag with the lining fabric.
Put the lining bag into the first one, the wrong sides of both bags must together. Fold the edges, and pin them together.
Sew the edges together all around the bag.
The bag is almost finish. Pin the zipper on one side on the bag and sew. Then do the same to fix the zipper on the opposite side.
Let’s make the handles. Take the two small rectangles and fold them in two lengthwise wrong side out. Sew two edges and leave one of the small side open to return the fabric. When the right side is out, sew the opening with a few hand stitches.
Pin and sew the handles on the bag. Try to place them at the same distance on each side.
To have a nice finish, you can glue a piece of fabric on the zipper end.
