I remember one day when my nephews decided to tease me for my twang. Oh, and also what they decided was my catchphrase. My youngest nephew had to have been only 3 or 4. I remember him sauntering around the room wearing only cartoon undies and shoes with no socks. He was wearing his chosen outfit boldly as he sauntered around the living room. He was bold like only a kid that little can be when owning the half-naked look, I think :) They sashayed this way and that with their hands in the air and parroting back to each other “hey, y’all!” “Why, hey, y’all!” “Who am I?” “I’m Auntie A, y’all. Hey!”
It was hilarious and fun and one of my favorite memories. But it was, and still is to this day, totally accurate. As soon as I meet up with anyone I know, be they human or animal I always call out “hey, y’all”. I suppose it could definitely be considered my catchphrase. Or at least the catchphrase that is kid-friendly and doesn’t prominently feature an expletive :) And since I’m clumsy AND sweary I’ve got a few more of those ;)
I’m not exactly sure where or when it was that I heard “Boo Y’all”. But it has been a phrase that has slow-burned in my mind. I just knew that I wanted to make something with this fun Halloween saying on it. Since it totally rhymes with my catchphrase it was definitely something I needed to add to my Halloween décor. Right?

Let’s talk about that Buffalo Check
I had considered buying some buffalo check fabric and making pillows but then I had an epiphany… I’m not an amazing seamstress. So I was pleased as Halloween punch when I found some PERFECT pillow covers that meant NO SEWING. Considering the price here, it’s cheaper to buy than DIY. Don’t you just love these black and gray buffalo check pillows WITH POM POM TRIM?
And then add on your Boo Y’all design and, well, these adorable pillows become even more amazing! They’re almost as cute as that fuzzy pup in the photo up there? And if you’re wondering my gal Carly is always around when I’m snapping photos. ALWAYS. She’s my baby shadow :) But back to the craft at hand.
Supplies needed to make a Boo Y’all throw pillow.
- Buffalo Check Pillow Cover (there 2 to a set)
- Throw Pillow Insert <— this one is my favorite, so fluffy!
- Cricut Maker (Amazon ⋆ Cricut)
- Cricut EasyPress 2 (Amazon ⋆ Cricut)
- Heat Transfer Vinyl in White (Amazon ⋆Cricut ⋆ Expressions Vinyl)
- Free SVG File
I also found these adorable black and orange buffalo check pillows but they don’t have the pompom trim. Though I dithered on which covers to get for myself, in the end, I went with the pompom trim! I also love this throw pillow insert and am going to highly suggest it should you need one (or a few). This insert is priced well, is nice and full, and fills out these covers beautifully. And they’re cheap. Gotta love cheap!
This is perfect for my porch…thanks! I love easy projects with big impact!
