These days I am all about the mood lighting. I remember my Momma watching a lava light often and I always wondered how she could be captivated by such a thing that seemed so, well, boring. Why not watch TV or something? But the older I get the more I find myself slowing down. I can stare at twinkle lights, which have far less going on than a lava lamp, for ages. Mostly I’m thinking. Reflecting on what good things that have happened like the fact that my friend Mike just passed a huge test – yay for him! and Rob has a successful art show going on. Sometimes I’m thinking on things that are more sad. I think about how I miss my family or how hard work has been for me lately.
So I guess I can see these days how my Momma could be so consumed with a lamp. It gave her something to focus on while she thought about everything life has thrown at her, like I seem to find myself doing.
So I’ve got tons of little LED battery operated lights that I got after Christmas stuff went on clearance and I’m happily using them up. For this DIY I used up jelly jars so that the quilted texture would add to the way the lights play on the surface they sit on. It’s pretty awesome and I’m so happy with how they turned out.
