The Car Sick Road Tripper

Being a road tripper is tons of fun unless you get carsick. Luckily there are ways around that!

Being a road tripper is tons of fun unless you get carsick. Luckily there are ways around that! I’ve wanted to travel for ages but I’ve only recently gotten my act together and started to fulfill that dream. So I’ve gotten on it. Actually it’s largely because of my new squeeze, Rob. He’s very encouraging of my desire to travel and has had a lifetime of exploring the world. Together we’ve been to places I’ve never been and I’ve seen things I never thought I would get to in real life.

Right now our travels have been strictly by car. I’m a nervous flyer and there isn’t much of a train system around these here parts so it’s either bus or car. And since I LOVE my car that’s how we’ve seen things in 4 different states and put over 6,000 miles on it in less than 6 months. Rob and I take turns driving and share the responsibility about equally which is so nice.

I must admit, though I’m much more comfortable driving because I tend to get insanely car sick. As a kid we vacationed in New Mexico and Colorado every year. I don’t know if you know, but the roads there are stupid winding. It’s any little girl with motion sickness’s worst nightmare. I remember finally getting to the top of a mountain and everybody hopping out to hit the gift store and me feeling terrible in there just hoping I didn’t get sick. And since I’m literally the only one in the family who experiences this uncomfortable phenomenon I often found myself getting whipped around with the brakes pumped at weird times jostling me into complete misery. It seems if you don’t have it you don’t understand it and can’t be completely sympathetic to it.

So let’s talk a wee bit about motion sickness so if you don’t get it but know someone who does you can understand a bit better what is going on… Motion sickness affects millions including 54% of women (that’s a ton of chicks who get car sick). The majority of travelers don’t take anything to treat it or use the wrong things and suffer for it. And women like me are the most hard hit and it takes a toll on how we live our lives… 53% avoid highways, 51% avoid rides at amusement parks, 50% will stay home when presented the opportunity to go on a cruise. How sad is that?

Now Dramamine Non-Drowsy Naturals has been my best friend in recent years for our little family outings to the amusement park and the water park. If not for that little vial I keep the lid screwed tight on and in my pocket at all times there would be no roller coasters and humongous slides to ride with my nephews and scream myself into total embarrassment.  Dramamine has always been absolutely perfect for me in that situation.

BUT when riding in a car and switching into the driver’s seat fairly regularly I can’t handle the drowsiness that comes along with Dramamine. Now at the theme parks bring the sleepy on, man, because I have so much adrenaline pumping through my veins that nothing in this world could knock me out.

That’s why Dramamine Non-Drowsy Naturals is great for my upcoming road trips (yes we have even more driving ahead of us and a few more thousand miles to put on the car this summer!).

I can take Dramamine, which works so well for me any time now. I don’t have to worry if my Momma or Rob will need to switch soon and then sit there in misery because it’s my only option. With this new natural formula I can pop a couple and not be miserable and maybe even catch up on some embroidery :)

Dramamine® Non-Drowsy Naturals is the first natural and non-drowsy answer to motion sickness and contains the clinically tested ginger dosage required to prevent and treat motion sickness. And while ginger ale and ginger gum may help us motion sick travelers a bit, that’s just a tiny amount that only helps a tiny bit.  And if you think upset stomach relievers are a good alternative, they’re not plus it’s not a great thing to use every day if you need to unlike a natural medication like the new Dramamine®.

Because this life is too short not to follow your dreams and do the things you really want to do. After all, one of the greatest days of my life happened just last month because I hopped in that car with Rob and hit the road. On that day we had the beach all to ourselves. Well, mostly! Click the pic below to see the panoramic view of just how gorgeous our own private beach for a day was!

Oh my gosh, I have to try this. I get horrible motion sickness too, and I LOVE to travel. I don’t let it stop me, which means I just get sick a lot, lol. Thank you for this post, can’t wait to get some!
