Summer time is over, I hope you enjoyed it! It’s now time to get back to school and work! Don’t you need an extra bag to carry you books or files around? This is the perfect tutorial, you gonna learn how to sew a tote bag and how to personalize it! We went for a geometric pencil design how is easy to paint even if you don’t have an artist soul. But of course, you can use your imagination to personalize the tote bag the way you like!

Take a piece of cotton fabic a cut it in 3 rectangles. One big of 35″ X 14″ and two smaller to make the handles witch dimensions are 35″x4″.

Iron the fabric and fold the big rectangle in the middle. Then fold and sew the edges. Let’s start drawing the pencils. Use masking tape to make three rectangles shapes in the center.

Paint each rectangle in a different color. Use fabric paint and put some newspaper under the fabric to protect the table.

When the paint is dry, remove the tape carefully. You will have to repeat the same process to make the pencil lead. Using masking tape, draw triangle shapes at the end of each rectangle.

Paint the triangles with gold color and when it’s dry, paint the tip in the pencil color.

Remove the masking tape. Now that the pencil drawing is finished, let’s sew the tote bag.

Fold the fabric in the middle with the painting inside. Sew both edges of the bag.

To make the handles, Fold and iron all the edges to inside. Then fold the two straps in the lengthwise and iron. Sew all along to make a strap.

To fix the handles, pin the straps on the bag and sew them together. And done! Ready to be use! If you feel confident with sewing, you can try to make this faux leather tote bag.
