Every family has a variation of this recipe and since this is my first year with my own family (the husband and the cat) I decided to make my own! This sweet and salty festive treat is perfect for those who aren’t big bakers but still want to create a homemade holiday gift. And no judgment here if you decide to keep it all for yourself because with a winning combination like chocolate, Oreos, salty pretzels, white chocolate, and candy canes, you’d have to be superhuman to be able to resist!
1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
10 Oreos, crushed
1 cup mini pretzels, broken into small pieces
2 cups white chocolate chips
1 ½ tsp refined organic coconut oil
1 tsp peppermint extract (optional)
3-4 candy canes, crushed
Line a large baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
Add semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips to a small saucepan and heat over low. Stir constantly until chocolate chips are melted and smooth. Use a rubber spatula to transfer melted chocolate to wax paper and spread into a flat layer.
Sprinkle crushed Oreos and half of the pretzels on top of the chocolate.
Place in the refrigerator to chill for 10 minutes.
In another small saucepan, heat white chocolate chips, coconut oil, and peppermint extract over low heat. Stir constantly until completely melted and smooth. Pour over the top of the chocolate and Oreo layer, using a rubber spatula to smooth to the edges. Sprinkle remaining pretzels and crushed candy canes over the top. Place in the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour.
When set, break apart, and serve or package up to send to your loved ones!
