This s a sponsored post brought to you by Kleenex. All opinions (and fabulous style choices) are completely my own.
Just in time for spring, my bedroom is getting a MAJOR overhaul. It’s a time consuming process but I know that in the end, it will have been totally worth it. In the past I’ve not really paid tons of attention to my bedroom decor. It’s not like I have dinner parties in there so it’s a room that has been left behind when redecorating happens around here.
And I’ve come up with a theme… Comfortable cashmere. And know what is falling perfectly in line with that new theme? The new Kleenex Style boxes! Tissues are a fact of life. Especially when you’re an allergy sufferer who happens to have 4 cats and a feline allergy. And now with seasonal spring allergies starting to get me down, the tissues around here are always needed within an arm’s reach.
Which is why I have TWO, yes, two boxes in my bedroom, alone! Check out that super cute orange and purple pattern which just so happens to fit perfectly into my new color scheme!
But getting things this cute, and knocking out a fun design with “cashmere” in the title without breaking the bank, I’m using pops of color and pattern, like my Kleenex Style boxes and a fair share of DIY.
And I couldn’t not show you how to make a simple cashmere pillow really quickly before this post is done.
For this project you will need:
- Thrifted cashmere sweater
- Matching thread
- Heavy iron on interfacing
- Poly-fil or stuffing from an unused pillow (it’s free!)
With spring upon us, thrift stores are desperate to get rid winter gear to make room for shorts and beach hats. I got a 100% cashmere sweater for a cool buck! Since it was so cheap, I washed this sucker at home rather than dry-cleaning before turning into a pillow.
Trim the bottom portion of the sweater, just beneath the arm pits and trim to the basic shape you’d like your pillow to be with a bit of extra all around.
Iron on your interfacing making sure the textured side is down on the wrong side of the cashmere.
Trim up so that your edges are nice and straight. I used a ruler and a fabric pen to draw guide lines and then a rotary cutter and ruler to trim up my edges perfectly.
Sew with the right sides together, leaving a gap large enough to stuff the pillow with. Cut the corners on an angle (without cutting through your stitches) and turn right side out.
Stuff and use needle and thread to stitch up your opening.
And there you have it!
Sitting on a nice chair and paired with some stylish Kleenex, you’re heading toward “comfortable cashmere”!
Now let’s check out some of these amazing new designs you can get your hands on…
These are three of my favorites and front runners for in my office. I’m leaning toward number three. But then there are so many cute ones that I just don’t know! There’s even a super cute design for you owl lovers out there!
And if you’re really interested, check out this little video that asks people on the street to guess if a pattern is high fashion or on a Kleenex box. It’s amazing how some you just can’t tell!
