Smarter, Cleaner Air

May 13, 2015Allison Murray

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Holmes® Smart Air Purifier for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Nobody likes to admit the silly things they do but for some reason but it seems I do on this blog constantly. Why is that? I have no clue. I swear I used to be a private person but somewhere between blog posts and Instagram pics my feelings seem to have changed and I just tell you like it is.

So here we go… I have allergies. Like bad allergies. My doctor says I have this 3 thing that shows that mine are severe. I know it has something to do with my nose and I don’t know what else. But it is apparently quite visible that I am an allergy sufferer.

The allergies that most bother me are grass, pollen and cottonwood whatever that junk is. Ugh. But my worst allergy is to pet dander. I know, I know! But I have 4 cats and 1 dog. What kind of idiot must I be? The best kind of idiot… the animal loving kind.

This spring I got such a great opportunity to partner up with Holmes and check out their Smart Air Purifier with WEMO. I had no clue what WEMO was but if I was going to be getting cleaner air that just might lead to lessened allergy symptoms I was down.

Turns out WEMO is this technology/app that controls home electronics remotely. The power of the internet is insane, am I right, people!? It’s available for both iPhones and Androids and is a totally free app. And it’s pretty cool.

With my phone I can control this air purifier like nothing you’ve ever seen before. I suppose that’s what makes it a “smart air purifier” rather than a not so smart one :) You can control the speed, schedule it to go off and on at certain times, turn the ionizer on or off and check on the status of your filter.

As somebody who regularly forgets to eat meals and has family members asking me to put reminders on my cell phone so that I will remember to eat I have to tell you this is a good thing for me. Because I wouldn’t remember that there was even a filter in there let alone when to change the thing.

Basically this app means you can control your purifier from anywhere you have internet access. From work, or the grocery store. Maybe you went on vacation and forgot to turn the schedule off… boom. Open WEMO and shut it down until you get back.

Technology aside, why does anybody need a Holmes purifier anyway? FIrst off because True HEPA filtration can remove up to 99.97% of the funky stuff in your air like pollen, dust, dust mite debris (ew!), mold spores, pet dander and smoke or odors (hey there crafty lady what is that awful smell?)

That’s a lot of stuff gone from the air that you breathe! I figure that allergy and asthma sufferers or pet owners, like myself would greatly benefit immensely. And it seems right on the money that health conscious and families with children would want the best air possible in the home.

And that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. I like smart phone apps and I like breathing better but there’s so much health-wise that a Holmes® Smart Air Purifier can do for you and your family.

So, you want to try one of these babies out for yourself? I have quite a treat for you!

Win your very own Holmes Smart Air Purifier with WEMO!

How cool is that? And entering is easy peasy… just let me know about one of your we moments. What is your happiest time when you lived in the moment? Tell me in the comments below and you just might win your own nifty air purifier from Holmes!

I hear you Allison. I can’t believe how much I have revealed about myself since I started “blogging” not too long ago. In person, I barely say a word as I am a shy person who sometimes has trouble speaking(See? Another little tidbit about myself) But online, I’m like a regular blabber mouth, hahahaha! But I think that after reading your blog and seeing how cool you are, I naturally sort of opened up too. :) I feel like I’m not the only one with awesome and unique quirks. :)
But this air purifier sounds pretty awesome. I don’t think that I have full blown allergies, but I do tend to sneeze more often in the spring season than I do any other season of the year, probably from all the pollen and grass aroma (after someone cuts their lawn) junk that’s floating in the air. And I have to be real careful when it comes to household cleaners as they will start me on a sneezing frenzy that I won’t be able to stop. It’s not fun…
But yeah, how awesome is technology right? An app that can control home electronics? I’m so there! We’re like one step away from The Jetsons age! All we need now are flying cars and high rise apartments on poles! :)
So does WEMO work with any electronic device in your home, or just with the air purifier?
And can I download it onto my iPod (I don’t have an iPhone).

:) You need to link up your blog on your comments, Mike!

You can totally use it on an iPod but it only works with other WEMO devices. This is my first but they have lights and all sorts of crazy gadgets apparently!

Oh Allison, I don’t have a blog. I’m sorry; I misspoke! I write and comment on other people’s blogs, like yours, but I don’t have my own. I always thought about starting one some day, but as of right now, I don’t have one. Maybe one day I’ll start a blog. I’d like do one about art! I’m still learning blogging terms. :)
Oh yes, I saw that. I saw WEMO in the app store and it said in the description that it’s only compatible with other WEMO products.
But I’ll try downloading it anyway, since it’s a free app. Never know when it may come in handy!

My WeMo moment when I have had the happiest time & lived in the moment; was sharing some outdoor fun with my kids and staying worry free, where all the rest of the world seemed to pause just so I could really enjoy my kids without the everyday chaos.

My own WeMo moment when I lived in the moment was when, without planning whatsoever, last summer, we just decided to drive to the shore for a few days and have a small vacation. We literally packed some bags and got in the car and just went and thankfully we were able to get a hotel room and had a blast. It was a fun experience that was completely unexpected.

My WeMo moment when I lived in the moment and was happy was the last time I finger painted with my boys! I’m usually cringing about the mess but I had a blast and didn’t worry about the mess.
