Rivets and bows shoe makeover by Dream a Little Bigger at Mom Spark

My love for Tom’s is genuine. However, my love for fake Tom’s, or, classic canvas sneakers is just as strong because the cheapies I can make over with no fear of ruining an expensive pair of shoes.

So when I was trolling the Dollar General shoe bins, as you do, I noticed a single pair of gray classic canvas sneakers. Now I love these knockoffs, a ton. They fit well and they are comfy. Trust me, I’ve bought a ton of these suckers and I will continue to buy them whenever I see them in my size.

And as luck would have it, they were my size. I decided I wanted to girly them up with a bow. But then I started thinking about how the other 6 days of the week when I wouldn’t want a white and grey chevron bow fancying up  my shoes and looked for a less permanent solution. Rivets!

Rivets will hold any variety or ribbons or embelishments and look pretty cool when there’s nothing in them. Check out the full tutorial for this Rivets and Bows Shoe Makeover at Mom Spark this week (and invest in a decent eyelet setting tool instead of the bargain store cheapie I was trying to work with).

I have clearly been sorely neglecting our dollar store's shoe bin. I didn't even know there was a shoe bin! Or that they had cuties like these. Well, I suppose YOU'RE the one who made them cute, but I can see how the potential was there. (Loving gray right now.) Gotta check out your whole tute now!

It's become a compulsion to see what they have in stock. You'll become addicted, too! Mark my words :)

I love these shoes. They’re so cute! But how did you get the rivets in them? And where did you get the ribbon? Thank you;)
