Happy New Year’s eve! Sorry I didn’t get this tutorial done in time for you guys to make it for this year, but now you can pin it and totally be ready for next year!I made these confetti bombs as an alternative to Cascaróns (those colored eggs filled with confetti that you smash on people’s heads during holidays) If you’re not sure what that is, google them! They’re really easy to make too. I have a ton of good memories growing up in Texas with these things; a birthday party was just not a party without some cascaróns.
- 9 inch balloons
- Mod Podge
- Printer paper
- Tissue paper
- Foam brush
- Gold acrylic paint
- Silver marker
- Black, gold, and silver confetti
- Silver and gold curling ribbon
Step 1: Blow up your balloon until it’s about 3 in. wide and round-ish. They don’t have to be perfect.
Step 2: Mix half a bottle of Mod Podge with water to create your paper mache paste. Cover entire globe with newspaper first.
Then cover the globe with a layer of white printer paper. Let dry.
Step 3: Paint your globes gold, should take two coats to cover (Pictured below is one coat). Let dry, then use a needle or something sharp to pop the balloon and remove it.
Use your silver marker to write 2016 on the front of your globe and decorate it as you wish.
Step 4: Cut 2 – 3 inch sections of curling ribbon, curl.
Mix your confetti and curly ques together (I used 3 different types to get mine just how I wanted it).
Step 5: Use a funnel to pour your confetti into the globe. Cut out a small piece of tissue paper and glue it over the hole on top of your globe.
Now grab a friend on New Year’s Eve and give them a glittery surprise by smashing this over their head! Fun for ages 5 and up!
My New Year’s resolution is to try to get ahead of my blogging calendar. What about yours?
Til Next Year!
