Don't throw out that old newspaper! Make gorgeous flowers instead!

I’m kind of excited because in just 3 months I’m going to be visiting New Orleans for the first time! To be honest I’ve done very little travel despite my strong desire to. It may only be a few states away, but I’m super excited about all things Louisiana! I found myself especially drawn to the idea of Mardi Gras this year! Not for the beads and boobies but for the bright colors and happiness and excitement it seems to bring (as I’ve seen in pictures and on TV, of course :)

So this year I wanted a little homage to the holiday I’ve never experienced in person with some bright colors in my decor. Thing is, I didn’t want to spend big bucks and though my intentions were pure at the time, I am not so keen on the colors that I want them in my home permanently.

In the end I took some tissue paper in the closest colors I could find, really, and a newspaper that was all ready to be thrown out and turned them into some gigantic and totally lovely paper flowers. And yes, these guys really are freaking jumbo. Like the size of two of my heads big! So head on over to Mom Spark and see how to make your own today!

Nice!! Such an array of color and pattern; this is truly wonderful! Great job Allison! I’m not very crafty myself, but I think that even I could pull this one off with little trouble. :) So this was done with just newspaper and tissue paper? Sounds simple! I’ll have to try it sometime.
Hope you have a good and safe trip!
