So how have you been lately? Last week I was pretty anti-social at this little link party and I’m sorry for that. I’ve been getting used to some new medication that has my world turned upside down. Isn’t that the way it always goes, though? Just this last Thursday I woke up to check my email and find LOTS and LOTS of emailed receipts for things I purchased online, apparently with my phone. Yup, 5 pairs of shoes, a jewelry hammer, a new duvet cover, a silicone craft mat (which I desperately need anyway), a new wallet (which is super cute – sleepy time me has taste!), a whole bunch of beads and jewelry findings and a business card holder.
To say I was shocked was an understatement because I don’t remember ANY of it. Like absolutely nada. Since then I’m terrified of going on another mindless spending spree but so far my zombie night time activities have been limited to writing things that make no sense, drawing, working up craft ideas and messing up my craft projects in the works. But a new appointment is scheduled and hopefully things will settle down for me and I’ll actually sleep at night instead of sleep-shopping or sleep-crafting or whatever. Fingers crossed!
Guess what?! I got an email from Miss Shelli from Illinois who made a rag quilt for her niece using my tutorial as inspiration! How nifty is that? And didn’t she do a great job? I’m totally loving all of the colors. Lucky niece! And the rounded corners are a super nice touch. What do you think? Thanks so much for sending me the pic, Shelli!
In other news my Silhouette tips and tricks were featured on Craft Gossip this week which felt pretty darn awesome (Thanks Craft Gossip!). I also have a craft project coming up in a digital cat magazine, which was super fun, and I’ll be sharing that with you all soon. Plus I’ve got a neat-o new project in the works that I’m super excited about sharing with you, hopefully by mid-March. So things are good in Allison-land and I hope they’re equally awesome in your world!
But that’s enough about me and my ridiculousness… let’s party with our very special guest host this week…
A bit about me? Few words…. Mother, wife, blogger, graphic designer, beer/wine lover, soon to be Etsy shop owner. I started my blog SohoSonnet Creative Living in November after losing my job and wondering what the heck I was going to do. I wanted to do something that would make ME happy, that would give me purpose, feed my creative soul and blogging WAS IT. On my blog I provide DIY tutorials for home décor, seasonal crafts, kids activities and lots of free printables. Stop by and connect with my socials (I always follow back) and sign up for my WEEKLY newsletter!
Remember… If you want to pin these lovely projects or tweet them out to your followers, click through and share them from the original site. Give some love to those who worked hard on their amazing projects!
First up we have this absolutely fab piece of artwork from the gals at Buttons and Paint. Actually this post is how to get wall art with character for cheap or free and that’s my kind of decorating budget! This is one of those things that I just never would have thought of. And how clever! Now, if you live in the US you can’t find this particular item from Ron Hodgson to purchase (I know because I spent like 2 hours trying to find it online) but you should still visit Simi and Sian for this brilliant post! Cheap (or Free) Wall Art!
Man, those LEGO people have got some killer marketing people. I mean, they went from blocks that seemingly were created to seriously injure the bare feet of adults and now they’ve got movies and video games and big time deals with big time movies like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And let’s not forget LEGOland where we spend like 30 bucks a person TO PLAY WITH LEGOS. Seriously. Geniuses. But I’ve gone off on a tangent here…
This lamp from 2 Little Superheroes is absolutely brilliant. What little boy wouldn’t absolutely adore a lamp with LEGO Yoda, Darth Vader and one of those evil dudes in the white suit on it? Add in that this lamp was thrifted and this is just really smart project. If you have a Silhouette and space themed movie lovin’ little ones (who are we fooling I know good handful of grown men who would totally wig) head on over and check out Thrift Store Lamp Makeover.
Aren’t these lovely love robots super cute? Andrew and Dennis over at The Crafty Lumberjacks decided to make their own Valentine’s with a little bit of paper (and you simply must see their mustachioed sweeties from last year). In the end, they loved their robo Valentines so much that they also became V-Day decor! Head on over to see the post All You Need is Love. Ah, cutie robots… my heart beeps for you!
I am always trying to think of super cute sayings for Valentine’s Day but I think mine often fall short or are pretty well done to death. But I don’t think I’ve seen “You get my stamp of approval” – how cute is that? These super cute Valentines are available for free download at Average but Inspired. And because I have a food sensitivity I’m constantly thinking about kids who might suffer the same and I always try to to cards and Valentines that are candy free for just that reason. (and she’ll even tell you where you can buy these stamps!) Stamp of Approval Free Valentines Printable.
And last, but not least let’s check out the favorite from last week’s co-host (that I totally didn’t share with you last week – eek and sorry!) Brittany from Confessions of a Secret Crafter: A College Girl’s Guide to Crafting on a Budget…
Brittany totally dug these Printable Valentine’s Day Cupcake Flags from Elegance and Enchantment. Check ’em out!
And don’t forget… you have THREE TIMES the potential for comment love, social shares and featured favorites this coming Sunday, so link up!!! And be sure to share the love with your friends! Grab the buttons below to show you’ve been featured or that you proudly link up!
Share the love, grab a button!
The RULES – because I took the time to write ’em up:
- Link anything you made yourself but nothing that is available for sale. (you don’t have to have a blog or site just leave that bit empty or link up your Facebook profile, etc.)
- Link back to Dream a Little Bigger to be considered for next week’s feature roundup! (you can grab that awesome button up there – hubba hubba!)
- Click through one or two of your favorite links and leave some comment love!
- Entries are randomly placed so that everyone gets top billing. I HATE when I get to a party late and my links get stuck somewhere in the middle! Well, that’s not gonna happen here, folks!
