Link It or Lump It #16 – An Awesome Link Party

December 1, 2013Allison Murray

Tony the Cowboy Parrot.

Hey, hey party people and Happy December! Are you ready for another fantastic link party? Well, I totally am, super big time. I don’t have a whole lot of news this week, except I’ve officially taken the plunge into full time craft blogger. Yessirreebob! I’ve been selectively paring down my client-base and, as it just so happens, my biggest and definitely most time-consuming customer decided they no longer wanted to outsource and my zip code was the wrong one to tackle any sort of local position. But I’ve taken it as a sign that I need to go with gusto after my dream and keep plugging away at the blog! It’s scary that this piece of the internet is currently my sole source of income and that I have no safety net of income from somewhere else, but I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve and we’ll just see how it goes! Wish me luck :)

In other news, what do you think of that awesome cowboy parrot up there? I love this guy. He’s got nothing to do with links or parties or link parties but I have a feeling he could really party down. P.S. I’ve named him Tony. Tony the Cowboy Parrot.

But back to business here, I’m looking for guest posters in my new Better Blogger series that will be starting back up in January. I think that we bloggers have to stick together and I do what I can to share what I’ve learned with my fellows but I definitely don’t know it all. If I can save even one person from the stress that comes with adding a pin it button to images or understanding nofollow links I’m going to do and I’m sure there’s tons that you could teach our fellow bloggers. Maybe you have a secret to gaining social media followers, or you have the most awesome WordPress plugin we all must try, or you’ve got an awesome tool to schedule your posts, whatever it may be, shoot me an email at allison (at) if you want to get on this train!

Remember… If you want to pin these lovely projects or tweet them out to your followers, click through and share them from the original site. Give some love to those who worked hard on their amazing projects!

Here we go…

I’m really big into a crochet phase right now and I’m playing with all sorts of patterns. And I LOVE this pattern from Happy in Red. The tutorial is in Dutch but Google Chrome can translate it for you. The pictures pretty well speak for themselves, though. The color scheme is just amazing, isn’t it? Diamond stitch crochet pattern.

DIY Advent Calendar Origami Igloo Village 3

This little advent igloo village from Meeha Meeha (new to Link It or Lump It, welcome!) is so adorable! Check out the full tutorial and get the freebie to help you fold up this amazing little origami set. I’m so terribly impressed with the color choice and the overall look. It’s just too adorable!

Now this little sewn jewelry pouch from Marni at Habadashery Fun is so amazing, isn’t it? But I’m envisioning mine as a super swinging little purse for my wrist the next time I slide into a party dress (which might not be any time soon as I’m quite the homebody) but gah, I really, really want one. Check out the amazing tutorial to make your own sewn drawstring jewelry pouch!

I love pasta. I love pasta sauce. I love pasta with pasta sauce. And this roasted vegetable sauce from Lamberts Lately looks amazing. Seriously,  have you ever considered roasting your veggies for pasta sauce? I just always toss everything in a big ol’ pot and have it on the stove all day. My grocery store day is Thursday this week and I am gonna be getting the stuff to make this Thursday night! Check it out: Gourmet at Home, It’s Easy! YUM!

First off, aren’t these cans adorable? Secondly, how smart is Simi to have turned such cute cans into little star Christmas ornaments? A genius I say! Head on over to Buttons and Paint to get the scoop and turn your own cans into little artsy stars. How fun would it be to make some of these suckers up for a Dr. Pepper or Coca Cola fiend? We all know one! Pop Can Christmas Stars.

Do you love lobster? Would you like to be able to cook lobster at home? Good news is Julia can help you out with that. Now I’m not personally too keen on lobster, but I am totally keen on anybody who lets their cat check out dinner. What an interesting day it must have been for this kitty! How fun! See this fun post from Happy House and Home boiled lobster dinner.

Dream a Little Bigger
Dream a Little Bigger

The RULES – um, well, because I said so:

  1. Link anything you made yourself but nothing that is available for sale. (you don’t have to have a blog or site just leave that bit empty or link up your Facebook profile, etc.)
  2. Link back to Dream a Little Bigger to be considered for next week’s feature roundup! (you can grab that awesome button  up there – hubba hubba!)
  3. Click through one or two of your favorite links and leave some comment love!
  4. Entries are randomly placed so that everyone gets top billing. I HATE when I get to a party late and my links get stuck somewhere in the middle! Well, that’s not gonna happen here, folks!

Wow, congrats on the full time blogging. Sometimes the universe is just telling you to do something and you really do have to listen. I’m sure you are going to make it work.

Congrats on going full time! I’ll totally cheer you on. Even if I haven’t been commenting much/ joining the link party lately I follow regularly. I just had to take a personal break in order to tackle my blog in a more professional manner for 2014.

I’m so excited for you! When I decided to try to switch from more of a hobby to more of a business it was hard at first. I worried that it would become a chore rather than a pleasure. And while it does feel more like a job, it’s a job that I love so much I hardly notice. You’re going to do brilliant things, I just know it, Brianna!

Thanks for featuring our Pop Can Stars! My boyfriend was also suggesting personalising some for people depending on the drinks they liked (his suggestions were all beer related!!!).

Good Luck being a full time blogger – slightly jealous I must say!! xx

Of course, beer cans! That would be a genius gift. Leave it to a man to come up with it, though :)
