Sometimes you just have to slow things down a bit. I’m not good at slow. I’m good at constantly going and constantly keeping my hands busy. I’m good at spending more time in the day working than resting or relaxing or enjoying life. But my nephews came for a week long summer visit and all of that had to change.
My work was put aside and I went to the zoo and the movies and the snow cone shop with my two favorite little kids. It was amazingly fun and totally worth the fact that I am SO behind with my work. They’re great kids and I love them more than anything and I hope that my time with them is remembered upon fondly when they are adults.
If anything amazing happened around here in the last week, I honestly didn’t notice. So not much of an announcement here today except to say thanks for reading and keeping my dream alive!
Remember… If you want to pin these lovely projects or tweet them out to your followers, click through and share them from the original site. Give some love to those who worked hard on their amazing projects!
Over at The Inspired Wren, Ren will walk you through her process of creating this fab and so cute cross stitch pattern for a family portrait. It’s such a fun and personal little piece that I am sure the family will treasure forever, typo and all! Mini Us Cross Stitch Pixelated Family Portrait
I’ve been in the process of making over my master bedroom for some time. It’s been slow going mostly because I’m putting off painting my room which is the next big thing that needs to happen but I really don’t want to do it. Partially because I know that I want an accent wall behind my new DIY headboard but I keep waffling on what I want. And when I saw this fab herringbone wall from View from the Fridge I, once again, decided that THIS might be just what I need to do for that wall. It’s so perfect and fab! Arg – indecision! Create a Herringbone Accent Wall
As a craft blogger myself, absolutely anything that I can do on the cheap to improve my photography is a must as far as I’m concerned. So when I saw this collapsible DIY white background form City of Creative Dreams I instantly saw the genius in it. It’s inexpensive to make and folds up neatly to be placed behind something. No big, bulky box getting in your way. I LOVE this practical solution from Shanice! DIY Foldable White Background
Nobody in my family ever made Fresh Strawberry Pie but my sister and I always loved it. It’s one of those things we’d both grab for at cafeteria style restaurants that my family liked to frequent. And to be honest, I’ve never, ever considered making it myself. But since becoming gluten free about three years ago now I haven’t touched a single slice of the stuff. And seeing these AMAZING looking pics from The Casual Craftlete helped me along in realizing that I miss it. A bunch. Classic Homemade Strawberry Pie
Again to the bedroom makeover… decisions, decisions. I NEED new flooring. My carpet is almost 8 years old and was once white but now is various shades of clay colored. FYI – anyone that puts white carpet in a home surrounded by no soil but red clay is a moron. And I’d heard of paper bag flooring but I’d never taken the time to see what it was all about. Until I saw this DIY pop up from Chaotically Creative in the link party I might not have EVER checked it out. And guess what? It’s freaking awesome looking. Like stained concrete but BETTER. And while I don’t think it is right for my bedroom, I WILL find some place to use this fun flooring! Paper Bag Flooring
I’m pretty new to wood burning but I have got to say that it is TONS of fun. And while I am nowhere near where I’d need to be to accomplish this gorgeous Matryoshka Wood Burning from Over the Apple Tree I’m keeping it stockpiled in the crafts I want to create file. Laura will take you through the process of sketching out potential designs to actually creating the gorgeous version you see above. Even if, like me, you haven’t quite conquered the wood burner, yet… this post is definitely worth a read! Matryoshka Wood Burning (oh, and Laura’s Etsy shop? To die for!)
