I think everybody needs somebody to take care of besides themselves. Lots of people have children or elderly parents to care for. I have pets. Four cats and a dog to be exact. My whole life I have loved animals and my whole life I have wanted tons and tons of them. I’ve got to say I’ve reached my limit at 5 total and that hardly seems like a ton to me but I’m sure child me would have been very happy to know of our future pets.
Caring for them is very high on my priority list. I try to give them the best things I can in life. The best chairs to sleep on (without even getting mad that I can never sit on them because they are constantly furry) the best toys to play with (even making most myself) and the best food I can afford for them. In case you’re new around here, let me introduce you to the crew…
Maxamilion VonFuzzybottom. My cat craft assistant.
I don’t have favorites except when I do. And right now it’s this wee little beastie right here :) You’re going to see him in a lot of upcoming tutorials because Max has been stuck to me like glue today!! A photo posted by Dream a Little Bigger (@dreamalittlebiggerblog) on
Marla the Big Boss. What Ma-Mar says goes.
Had big plans for a tutorial today. But the big boss came in and flipped the script. :) A photo posted by Dream a Little Bigger (@dreamalittlebiggerblog) on
Gracie. Rapper name: G$ pronounced G Munny. The flyest of these felines.
My G Munny Hunny is basking in that amazing sunlight. A photo posted by Dream a Little Bigger (@dreamalittlebiggerblog) on

There they are. My fabulous little furry wonders that are a huge part of my life. Seriously. Check out my Instagram feed. Kitties be everywhere.
These guys like several things. They like getting mail (with me blogging they get quite a bit these days :), they like to mess business up, taking over my cardboard boxes and they like to eat. I had found a brand of kibble everybody seemed equally happy with and that’s been their diet for quite some time now. It wasn’t the exactly top quality and that kind of bothered me but since they would all eat it I counted it as a win.
So I imagine they were all pretty excited when they got to celebrate all four of their favorite things together when a package of Rachel Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Cat Food arrived in the mail. I wasn’t sure what was in the package so I sliced it open and when I saw Rachel’s adorable face staring back at me set the box aside. I had just purchased a humongous bag of kibble and we needed to get through that first.
So when I pulled out the box I was surprised to find that my cats got to enjoy getting mail, in a cardboard box, with food to eat while it would appear they messed business up.
Top to bottom, Max has shoved a fake egg into the box underneath that cute fisherman’s net, Marla has chewed the bag open and gotten to the goodies early and also left some jacked up paper that looks an awful lot like an owl in flight on it’s way to snatch up some prey.
Even though at least one of the kitties and already been getting into the good stuff I still needed to work the Nutrish into their diet. It’s not a good idea to make the switch quickly because it upsets their stomachs. So over the course of 5 days I mixed the old and new together, gradually mixing in more and more until we’re straight up Nutrish around here.
I had gotten everything set up to take pics of the bag and the stuff in the bowl and all of that and it didn’t take long for the cats to scent the new and get on in to get after it.
Marla was circling the bowl like a shark.
and when she got in it, she GOT IN IT! Look at that gigantically open mouth there. She’s never done that that I have ever seen. She’s kind of prissy when she eats but she looked like one of those crane machines getting into that bowl.
This food actually smells like fish. Yep, you can totally smell the fish in it. So it wasn’t long until Max came out to get in on it too. Gracie came around pretty quickly too but there just wasn’t room for 3 cats up in here.
So while the boys grubbed Marla proved that she did, in fact, jack up the bag.
And if you’re wondering where Liddy is in all of this, she was obsessed with the fish toy that also came in the box!
Okay so you’ve seen just how cute my wee furry beasties are, let’s get down to brass tacks.
- the #1 ingredient is whitefish which maximizes protein while minimizing litter box odors (for real!)
- contains absolutely no glutens, grains or fillers
- no meat by products
- no artificial colors or flavors
- Rachel Ray created the formula along with pet nutrition experts so it’s healthy and tasty!
- Rachel’s proceeds go to Rachel’s Pets that has given over $9 million to help animals in need.
- Convenient to buy at super stores, grocery stores and even Amazon (hello Prime membership!)
What’s more is that my picky cats love it. So that, in itself is quite a testimonial!
