Did you already start decorating your home for Halloween? The front door decor is always a challenge, this year let’s give a try with a day of the death inspiration garland. This is a great family craft, you can get your kids involved to color the calavera skulls. Have fun crafting together!
- The calavera skull free printable
- color pencils or markers
- tissue paper
First step, print the calavera skull template and glue it on a cardboard piece. You can reuse cereal box to do so. Cut out the skull shape and add some bright colors on it. You can use pencils, marker or paint….what you like better. Have fun and get your kids involved.
Take the tissue paper to make flowers to decorate the calavera skulls. Cut 8 paper squares and place them on top of each other. Make accordion folds with the paper squares (all together). The big flowers were made out of 4 x 4 inches square, and the small ones with 3 x 3 inches squares.
With the scissors, cut each end into pointy shape.
With a piece of string make a knot around the center.
Separate the tissue paper layers, pulling away from the center one at the time.
Glue some flowers on the skull head.
Glue the string on the back of each calavera skull. Attach or glue some extra flowers on the string.
And done! Enjoy your colorful Mexican day of the death garland. You can hang it at your front door or at the window…are you thinking of somewhere else? If you want to complete your decor you may want to print those Calavera candle jar.
