Get on

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Better Sleep Council for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We often let our mattresses slide when furnishing our homes. We change out the dining room table for something more modern… Our taste in colors change and a new sofa is purchased to match new paint colors. But what about our poor backs on those old mattresses?

A good night's sleep can mean the difference in so many things… When I sleep poorly I can actually feel that I'm crabby with someone and I just can't seem to help it. My work suffers, my creativity isn't on cue and I often find myself wasting supplies and messing up my projects. And for me, glitter is money so BOO! :)

Not all that long ago I slept on a TERRIBLE mattress and I was so tired all of the time. I'd sleep through the night but I didn't really rest. Talk about weird and I felt like I should quit yawning and be functioning much better. After all I totally got my 8 hours.

Slowly my back started to hurting in the middle of the night. I convinced myself I was sleeping funny. But then I started waking up with a terrible back pains. It took a few weeks for me to realize it wasn't that I was sleeping strangely, I was sleeping on a mattress past its prime. If I had only had a guide for how to get better sleep like this one from The Better Sleep Council- but guess what? You do!

When I went and started looking at beds I told the salesman that I wanted to feel like I was sleeping in a cloud but I wanted something firm that would last. The answer was one freaking amazing pillow-top mattress that I fell in love with the moment I sprawled out on the floor model. And since I'm cheap I had really hoped to not spend my full budget but in the end I realized how important it was to get the best mattress I possibly could.

And guess what? I started sleeping so much better that very first night. I LOVE that bed and the only problem I have now is getting out of it first thing in the morning!

So how do YOU know if you need to buy a new mattress? Does it look badly with holes or a sagging middle? Have you started to experience aches and pains? Do you sleep somewhere else better than you do at home?

And next up on my to do list is helping my sister out in her quest to get the best possible mattresses for her boys. Since she lives in a small town we've been weighing the options of where to shop (would it be worth it to shop out of town for better prices but having to pay a delivery charge? Is it a good idea to buy online without actually being able to feel the mattresses?)  And this guide, how to buy a mattress is actually pretty helpful.

So are you in the market for a new mattress? Or maybe you hadn't realized before this little chat that you needed  a new bed and are now pretty darn excited about the idea of a better night's sleep? Why not head on out and this coming Memorial Day?

And before I leave you today, I've got a great contest to share with you… The Better Sleep Council is holding a giveaway for a $1000 Visa gift card and that will really help out with a new mattress purchase, wouldn't it!  So click through and get entered –> Get on Top, win $1,000 giveaway

I toss and turn all night long from back/hip aches, I’ve even tried the pillow between the legs and doesn’t help lol totally putting a fund together to save up for a new mattress! I think having a new and better mattress would support my body better!

My mattress is lumpy so I can never get comfortable. I need a new mattress to help my aching back!

I have trouble sleeping due to back pain and our old mattress makes it worse. A comfortable mattress is very much needed.

I have scoliosis which causes a lot of back pain daily in my lower back as well as the middle/center where your spine is and also between my shoulders where your neck meets your back – it’s awful. This is why I rarely sleep on my back. I am always forced to sleep on my side or my stomach because my current, older mattress is just not cushioned enough for my back – it’s painful and uncomfortable. I really do need a new mattress, one that is very soft and has a lot of cushion. I think that would help a lot.

My mattress is pretty old – at least 10 years and definitely leaves a lot to be desired. On one side I can actually feel the springs in my back so a new mattress would definitely aid with better sleep and overall better health.

My mattress is a little bit old and it causes me discomfort when I sleep, sometimes I wake up sore and not in a good mood. Choosing a new mattress with the right cushion and support would help me sleep better.

My mattress is very lumpy and uneven and not very comfortable. I get up usually at least once during the night and I think a newer, better mattress would result in an overall better sleep experience.

My health is really affected by my lack of sleep. My mattress is very old and very hard with a dip in the middle despite regular flipping. Thanks to Lupus, Fibro, joint issues, etc. it is impossible for me to get comfy enough to go to sleep. I use a lot of pillows to try and prop myself, but I think a new foam or gel top mattress is the only answer to being able to get some sleep!

    PS: What a pretty bedroom!

A new mattress would help back problems so I would feel rested in the morning. Thanks for the opportunity.

Once I fall asleep there is no waking me up until the alarm goes off. But tossing and turning on a terribly uncomfortable mattress keeps me awake too long!

My husband gets up numerous times every night (and wakes me up often doing so) and constantly complains about needing a new mattress because it’s not cushioned enough and very uneven. Our mattress is easily over 15 years old and a new mattress would let him (and me) get a better sleep!

Wow! I love your bedspread! Where did you get it?
P.S. I have a mattress that is 10 years old and I sleep fine. I guess I am just not a sensitive sleeper! =)
