One of my favorite things to do in the entire world is spend time with my dogs. And that’s why if the weather is decent, I load up the pups into the car and take them running errands with me. They love a good car ride and I love how happy they get when I ask “wanna go for a ride?”
I literally have no clue how many trips the pups have made with me and I probably cannot count how many different Walmart stores they’ve hung out in front of while I ran in for milk or glitter or pet supplies like the Adams™ Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs & Puppies we’re going to get around to chatting about.
I also love taking the dogs for walks. They get so excited to be someplace new and, just like every boy dog on the planet, Ollie seems to live to make his mark on nature, if you know what I mean! But I am not super crazy about walking around the neighborhood. The sidewalks get so hot and I can’t walk barefoot on them so I certainly can’t expect the dogs to.
But luckily, South Texas is nature trail central plus we’re within 30 minutes of South Padre Island meaning we’ve got lots and lots of great places to stretch our legs. And winters are super mild here, too, so Rob and I find ourselves hitting the trails with leashes in hand pretty much all year long. A few weeks back we were checking out a new trail to see if it seemed friendly for our dogs (no concrete, not super crowded, plenty of shade to beat the heat, etc.) and after I hopped out of the shower I saw a weird dot on my back.
As it turns out, ticks are still a really, really big deal down here in winter because it doesn’t get cold enough to kill them off. As I wigged, just a little bit and ran in place while yelling for Rob to come and save me from the bloodsucker on my back, we realized that we have to be super, super vigilant about flea and tick protection for our pets because we want to prevent them from having any discomfort by those havoc-wreaking pests.
So, I was pretty stoked to learn about Adams Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs & Puppies. First off, it’s easy to use.
You pop the collar on, snip off the excess and Fido is protected from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes for 6 months. Yeah, I said SIX months. And for us this is huge because it seems my dogs LIVE to mess up my world. And potentially-messy, smelly liquids to squeezed onto my dogs’ necks always results in that business being rubbed into my sofa.
Let’s backtrack a moment, I said fleas, ticks AND mosquitoes. Did you know that heartworm disease can be transferred to your pets by a mosquito? Yup. Heartworms that can result in lots of pain and suffering for your pets and huge vet bills for you happen because your pet gets bitten by an infested mosquito.
The collar will not, however, do anything in regards to crazy looking caterpillars with insane white spikes sticking off of them. Luckily Carly’s got that situation on lock-down, though :)
Around here we get mosquitoes so stinking bad, largely because there are tons of natural Resacas and man-made ones are so popular around here. There are literally tons and tons of stagnant water, perfect for mosquito breeding and it gets NUTS. We’ve always had to spray ourselves and the dogs with bug repellent when going out for a hike because we’d all get swarmed and eaten alive. And now we don’t have to mess with finding a spray that is safe for pets because the prevention is already in their Adams Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs & Puppies collars. Cool, right?
So basically, you get to forgo the vet visit but still protect your doggies from fleas and ticks for 12 months without messy business. Oh, and did I mention the 2-packs will run you between $19.99 and $24.99? <— Anyone who has recently purchased anything from the vet is now realizing how much more they spent than that for one go. Add that business up… wow, right? Oh, and want to save even more dough? Use this coupon to keep a little extra $$$ in your pocket, visit http://bricks.coupons.com/Bstart.asp?o=131587&c=HU&p=7v1oBWTX for more information. At this point you’re pretty much sold, right? ‘Cause I totally was.
And I’m not the only one super stoked… In celebration of the new collar, Adams PetCare is conducting a contest where pet owners can win $1,000 in prizes by submitting their dog’s selfie. Top honors will go to entries that capture the pride a dog feels when pest-free. No purchase necessary. See website for details.
