So last night Rob and I decided to go into the “hobby store” when I needed to run into Lowe’s for a bazillion paint samples for a project. They closed in 13 minutes but we were curious so we decided to go in and make it snappy. To be honest, I didn’t really want to go in and almost asked if he minded if I sat in the car (we had eaten out for dinner and I wasn’t feeling amazing) but I hate to do that to him so I went in with him.
And in the end it wound up SO being worth it. We get in there and there is a group of men reenacting a scene from The Big Bang Theory. Not really but it was dang close. Basically there were a group of men in the section where you buy parts to build a radio control car (not a kit, parts – that seems pretty R/C hardcore, if you ask me!) fighting over Batman. Seriously. At one point one of them got upset and said “I’m sorry but in a real world with Batman I would be the Joker” which led to an even larger/dorkier argument. It wound up being hilarious and Rob and I laughed about it for ages.
So I guess my point is sometimes good things can come from things you don’t really want to do. I left with a smile on my face and Rob and I reenacted the best bits of the conversation in the car, occasionally changing the dialogue to be a bit funnier.
I guess that’s kind of like this bag I have here. I bought this tote, I believe, at Target last year with the plans to make it DIY fabulous. But for some reason I was dreading actually doing it so I just tossed my bathing suit and sunglasses in there and let it be. But it bothered me that I couldn’t come up with what I thought was a decent idea to pep this puppy up. And when I made myself really consider it, I came up with these felt flower brooches that are only temporary.
I made a couple of felt flower brooches over at Mom Spark this week and I’ll show you how to make them, too. It just so happens that they look fab on my beach tote and I’m glad I finally did something with it!
