I’ve never liked scented pine cones. At all. You know when you have an experience as a kid that absolutely ruins something for you? I got the flu the morning after my dad fed me nothing but Chicken McNuggets with bbq sauce. I didn’t even go near one of those things for almost 20 years and then I was all, what is the fuss all about here?
Same goes with scented pine cones. My mother would often buy the cinnamon scented ones around the holidays (and scented brooms, you name it) and they gave such an awful headache. Like the entire time I was at home, my head was pounding. It was awful and as a kid you just know that your home is making you sick, but you have to be there.
I finally figured out why I was getting sick as a young adult. I was given a bag of scented pine cones as a gift and on the way home I wound up pulling over and throwing them away. In that little confined space my head was throbbing and I was worried about driving the rest of the way home.
But guess what? I decided to make my own. These aren’t super crazy scented and they aren’t cinnamon. They’re actually orange cranberry and they’re fabulous. They give a nice, homey smell and not a single headache yet. Oh and I blinged them out because that is what I do!
