DIY Geometric Druzy Earrings - So pretty and so easy!

While I have my craft trends I’m over, I’m still really, really digging the geometric thing. AND I hope I’m not wearing you out with it! I find that it’s such an interesting way to bring new life to the same ol’ same ol’ and I’ve been all over it!

Now I’m going to start off with saying that making geometric druzy earrings yourself totally depends on the type of stones that are available purchase. Mine came from eBay and I looked for WEEKS before I spied the set that I wound up bidding on and purchasing. They came direct from China and took a little over a month to receive in the mail. Since this druzy is a stone, every piece is different and unique. And basically you get what you get.

Well, what I got was Natural Agate Titanium Druzy Cabochons and they ran me about $8. But, to be honest, I had been exhausted and woke up late, late thanks to an alarm on my clock just so I could buy these suckers. After all of that I wasn’t going to lose them. You CAN get a set for so much cheaper if you’re less stubborn than me!

I specifically wanted two that were not exactly the same shape but were geometric. But there are tons of shapes that are more common and tons of gorgeous colors… Just hit up eBay or Etsy and search for druzy cabochon. If you want a pair that are a good size for earrings, add 2 or pair into your search.

For this project you will need:

Here are my stones before and they are awesome!

Stir your gilding well and apply to the edges and just barely around the top using a cotton swab. You can also use a brush but it will be trash so the cotton swab makes more sense and works just as well.

Paint the backs to match. If you don’t stop mid-swipe like I did, you get a nice, super solid look like the piece is actually plated. Pretty cool!

Attach your earring posts with some jewelry glue and allow to dry fully.

And rock ’em out! Now these are a weensy bit heavy, but I don’t often wear earrings (the type that almost has to puncture my ears again every time, you know?) so they’re probably normal for most people who, oh, I don’t know, don’t wear pants with an elastic waist band 90% of the time.

Have fun looking for your druzy and let me know what you get!

Really cool, but please be aware that Ebay and some Etsy stores that list an item as ‘Druzy’ are sometimes just glitter glued to a stone. They would be better to buy from a local rock shop or go to their local bead store.
    Love your blog!

These are so pretty, Allison! I’m totally not sick of the geometric trend either. Keep it coming. If you have a second to link up at The Makers over on my blog, it would totally make my day. :)
