The temperature is plummeting in Berlin so that means it’s time to start refashioning some of those snuggly leftover knit bits I have lurking in my stash…
Grab a couple of less-than-stellar sweaters and create a cozy cowl with my winter welcoming refashion!
Snag wide necked sweater + another that coordinates well for the cowl neck (I used the sweater leftover from my Groovy DIY Poncho)
Now that’s a crazy wide neck!
Chop the bottom off of your soon-to-be-a-cowl victim a few centimeters below the underarm seams
Pop the cowl into the sweater with the wrong side of the cowl neck facing the right side of the sweater (this will ensure that when worn the cowl will fold down with the correct side facing out)
and you are now the proud owner of the largest cowl neck in the universe!
Decide the approximate width you’d like your cowl to have & then easily shrink it with 2 straight side seams
Chop off the excess, zigzag the edges to prevent fraying and you could be done!
I decided to add a bit of detail to my cowl and bound the side and interior seams with some pretty vintage lace
Throw on your cozy new cowl sweater and head out and share your cool creation with the world!
Three fabulous new-to-you garments refashioned from one turtleneck sweater! The projects are so quick you can make them all on a relaxing day off: Start with the funky poncho, then move on to the snuggly cowl sweater and finish up with the groovy maxidress!
