There are two things I really, really love. Green tea and fruit. Like seriously, majorly and totally love. Fruit is healthy and good for you and sweet. And I majorly love sweet in my treats, pets and people!

And research suggests that green tea has got some amazing health benefits. It can lower cholesterol, repair cell damage and helps to prevent tons of heart related issues. And besides that I like the way it tastes (although it did take me some time to go from, “that tastes like grass” to “can you grab me a green tea?”)

Since it’s so good for me I’ve been trying to incorporate it in other areas of my diet besides just straight up drinking it. Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to get both my healthy green tea and super sweet drink on with Bigelow Tea and Truvia!

And I’m going to tell you how to quickly get both and save!

If you’re female and in any way shape or form like shopping, you probably love Target just as much as I do. Those dollar bins right at the front of the store? Love! Their clothes that are cute and last? Love! The fact that lots have fresh grocery sections in them now? Love! For me going to Target isn’t just about grabbing what you need and getting out… it’s a pleasure and something to be savored with a casual stroll down each and every aisle. You feel me?

Since this particular Target did have a fresh produce section I was able to grab what I needed all in one go and get going. Er, or get to looking at shoes. Ingredients needed:

  • Variety of fruit
  • Ice
  • Bigelow Green Tea (I prefer decaffeinated but both work equally well)
  • Truvia zero-calorie sweetener

Prepare your fruit by washing and chopping into smaller pieces if necessary.

A variety of fruit is both tasty and super fun to set up for a smoothie bar! I tend to choose fruit that is either in season or on sale!

Here we have mango, kiwi and raspberries.

Grab your Truvia and sweeten your smoothie to taste. This stuff packs one super sweet punch making it so you only need to use half of what you normally would with sugar!

And just so you know I’ve always been anti anything that isn’t sugar. But my father had insisted that Truvia was different. That it was better. I skeptically opened my little pot and the first thing I noticed is that when I breathed a tiny bit of it in when removing the safety seal that it definitely was sweet. (You know how you always taste Kool-aid when you first open the package? It was like that!)

And the taste test on a wet finger proved to be pretty awesome, too. Flat out, every no calorie sweetener I have EVER tried has tasted bitter and acrid and awful. But Truvia? It tastes sweet like sugar which is so amazingly awesome!

Brew a very, very steep cup of green tea.

Now you have two options for adding into your smoothies. If you prefer the health benefits but not the taste, add the green tea straight into the blender and top with ice.

If you want a stronger green tea taste, pour your strong tea into ice cube molds and use those right into the blender! Add a bit of water to help keep your smoothie smooth!

This blender has a smoothie setting which is awesome. But if you don’t have one experiment with the settings you do have to make your perfect smoothie!

These amazing smoothies are sweet and refreshing. And if they aren’t quite sweet enough, because maybe you got some sour fruit or whatnot, just stir in a bit more Truvia until you’re happy with it. After all, it’s not like it’s going to add any more calories!

    Your smoothie sounds delicious. It’s been so long since I made one, I think I might need one tomorrow. I’ll have to pick up some Truvia, though, because I’m not eating sugar anymore. I’m glad to hear that it’s a great substitute! #client
