Refashioning is not only a completely ethical and sustainable way to create your own unique style it’s also a magnificent method for adding those items you’ve been coveting to your wardrobe for a fraction of the cost (or absolutely free)!
I’d been on the lookout for a funky faux fur vest for ages but unfortunately my thrifting karma just wasn’t cooperating, fortunately a peek through my sweater stash revealed the perfect refashioning victim to transform into a DIY reversible faux fur vest!
I grabbed that faux fur lined hooded knit cardigan from my stash + six coordinating buttons.
Then very carefully removed the sleeves making sure to keep the finished edges of the knit armhole intact to prevent fraying.
Snagged some thick embroidery thread, tucked in the edges of the faux fur and knit and securely handstitched them together.
Once my new armholes were finished I simply stitched the buttons on behind the existing buttons and my reversible faux fur and knit vest was complete!
Funky fur on one side and cozy knit on the other!
