I have this entertainment center that isn’t anything fancy. In fact, it’s a cheapie Walmart purchase that has gotten the core jobs necessary of it done for the past 5 or so years. It holds the television up so I can watch it, houses the DVD player and other stuff so I can watch something other than a fuzzy screen and it holds DVDs and whatnot in the drawers.
Considering that it is made out of laminate over particle board, it’s lasted really, really well. I mean I thought I’d get 2 years out of this thing max but 5. Not so bad!
But over the years the scuffs and marks have accumulated. And an afternoon spent giving the people on the TV screen a mustache (thing a super boob-y Scarlett Johansson with a big handlebar ‘stache – pretty freaking funny). But when that sticky sucker served its purpose, somehow it wound up on that cheapie laminate. And when I went dusting and hit something fuzzy, I pulled it away and the print on that laminate right away. And it was pretty unsightly.
Rather than buy a new one (which is so wasteful as this thing STILL holds up my TV and DVD player and all of that good stuff) so instead of turning it over to a landfill and buying up a new one, I remade the one I had in a super budget friendly way – like just a few smackaroos. Oh, and just in case I hated my new piece, I made sure that this project is completely temporary. That’s right! This makeover can be made under any time I choose.
