Friendship Bracelet Watch

A few weeks back I made some horribly embarrasing videos to show you how to make chevron friendship bracelets. The reason why was because I had a handful of chevron friendship projects to show you. But I dropped the ball and they got lost in the shuffle. So today I'm finally sharing with you the second chevron project (the first was DIY chevron flip flop straps).

Upcycled Linens Crochet Rag Rug Tutorial

I'm not sure if it is like this everywhere but I have found that I am able to find sheets at thrift stores for cheap. Like $1 for a set of twin sized sheets or $1 for a queen or king size single sheet. There is no way that I could ever purchase that much fabric from a craft store for $1, ever.

I'll often snap up sheets that have a pretty print with plans to sew from them. But sometimes when you get them home you find little holes and stains that come with normal use and wear and you don't exactly want to be making throw pillows out of them afterall.

No Sew Cloth Napkin Throw Pillows

A while back ago I saw the prettiest little pillows. They were white with little black dots and they just plain ol' spoke to me. But they were from a store that we don't have here in Oklahoma. Unfortunately they don't sell online, either. And now, of course, I can't find these suckers anywhere online. I'll update with a link when I do find them. Geez!

So knowing I had little other option, I DIYed some up. BUT I wanted to be able to create a tutorial for anyone who wants to make custom throw pillows but either doesn't have a sewing machine, doesn't know how to sew, or just doesn't like to sew. Because sometimes people who have no desire to be crafty like custom things too!

Painted Leopard & Lime Boat Shoes Tutorial

I've seen and loved a good number of boat shoes I've found online that have bright fun colors and interesting patterns. But guess what, I can't shell out $100+ for a pair of name brand boat shoes when they aren't something that I could possibly work into my wardrobe often. Like at least every other day often.

So while I found and loved and pinned a ton of cute boat shoes I always knew that I would be window shopping only. Unless of course I won the lotto, which I have heard you actually have to play to win which kind of puts me out of the running. But, gah, how I want a pair.

Floral to Mod Geometric - Framed Art Makeover

So one day I was driving to town. Not the 'the city' but my town which is still about a 15 minute drive from my house. There's only 3 reasons for me to go this way.

  1. The Country Boy. Our little and slightly overpriced grocery store where the bag boys still take your groceries out to your car and will politely continue on with you even when you insist that you can handle it by yourself. I love this place because mostly because I love employees with good attitudes and manners. You just don't find that anymore.
  2. Snowcone stand. Because I am a freak about snowcones - Bahama Mama extra juice, blackberry with cream, margarita with salt, and good old fashioned blue coconut served as is. The snowcone ladies at the different stands around here know me and they only see me one season out of the year.
  3. Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store for the most amazing milk and ice cream Oklahoma ever has seen. If you're coming to Oklahoma or just passing through and see a Braum's, stop and grab a chocolate shake and some fries. Seriously amazing.

The only one I can rule out is the snowcone stand because it was still too cold out, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. What I do remember is whipping a U-Turn to pick up some roadside road kill. Along with a sign sayin "FREE" were two very floral sofas and a big, big picture in a humongous frame. That frame was gonna be mine. I pulled into their drive and Russell quickly did the grab and wave to the house. Thanks!

There is absolutely no place in this house for this image. It's nice enough but it is SO not my taste. Not even in an ironic way. So I did what I do and I turned it into something that I absolutely love.

And there she is all new and improved and totally Allison-style. Would you have recognized it? I know Russell who did the grab didn't at first. Best part was that this project only cost $3.19 for the new black matte. This is why I will ALWAYS stop to check out free stuff on the side of the road. I've got no shame about it!!!

a Quick Bangle Update

Color blocked wood bangle - Dream a Little Bigger

I absoluely love those everything is a dollar jewelry stores. Don't you? A few weeks ago I snagged this wood bangle. It was simple and it was plain and at the time I liked that.

But though I liked it, I never wore it because it was, as previously stated, too plain. Today I busted out my supplies and decided to give this little fella a very, very quick makeover.
