Floral to Mod Geometric - Framed Art Makeover

So one day I was driving to town. Not the 'the city' but my town which is still about a 15 minute drive from my house. There's only 3 reasons for me to go this way.

  1. The Country Boy. Our little and slightly overpriced grocery store where the bag boys still take your groceries out to your car and will politely continue on with you even when you insist that you can handle it by yourself. I love this place because mostly because I love employees with good attitudes and manners. You just don't find that anymore.
  2. Snowcone stand. Because I am a freak about snowcones - Bahama Mama extra juice, blackberry with cream, margarita with salt, and good old fashioned blue coconut served as is. The snowcone ladies at the different stands around here know me and they only see me one season out of the year.
  3. Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store for the most amazing milk and ice cream Oklahoma ever has seen. If you're coming to Oklahoma or just passing through and see a Braum's, stop and grab a chocolate shake and some fries. Seriously amazing.

The only one I can rule out is the snowcone stand because it was still too cold out, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. What I do remember is whipping a U-Turn to pick up some roadside road kill. Along with a sign sayin "FREE" were two very floral sofas and a big, big picture in a humongous frame. That frame was gonna be mine. I pulled into their drive and Russell quickly did the grab and wave to the house. Thanks!

There is absolutely no place in this house for this image. It's nice enough but it is SO not my taste. Not even in an ironic way. So I did what I do and I turned it into something that I absolutely love.

And there she is all new and improved and totally Allison-style. Would you have recognized it? I know Russell who did the grab didn't at first. Best part was that this project only cost $3.19 for the new black matte. This is why I will ALWAYS stop to check out free stuff on the side of the road. I've got no shame about it!!!

The Easy Way to Paint a Framed Mirror

I've spray painted a whole lot of things in my life. Too many to count, really. But since I painted my poodle lamp with glossy white enamel spray paint, I want everything to be glossy white enamel.

My master/half bath is a small little space and it's been in flux for almost as long as I have lived here. I quickly painted it a light, bright blue and used some things from Russell's old place to decorate it up but it was never really to my taste.

Low Cost Dabbling in Neon Accessories

Follow the hot new neon trend on the cheap!

I absolutely love the idea of bringing a bit of neon into my wardrobe. It's not going to be anytime soon that I have the butt that looks good in a pair of neon green skinny jeans so I'm leaning more toward bright accessories. But when I find something I like the price is outrageous because of the trend.

Paint Your Christmas Tree Tutorial

Paint your Christmas tree a new color - Dream a Little BiggerI have had a white Christmas tree ever since I bought this house in 2004 or 2005 or whenever the heck it was. I loved my white tree because it wasn't exactly the norm back then. Apparently I have a thing about liking things that are "different" and disliking things that are "popular".

Out of nowhere, I decided I wanted a black tree. I went around town and the only one I found was one of those weird, tall and skinny jobbies and I didn't like it at all. Instead I bought 5 cans of cheap spray paint and headed home to start my project. It was getting dark, was terribly windy and was the coldest day we'd had so far this year. Oh, and of course I had a cold. If you haven't noticed a theme before, I can be a freakin' genius.

When it got dark I resigned that I was done for the day and was disappointed to only have gotten up through the bottom portion complete. Waking up bright and early the next morning I saw a very, very big problem. My paint isn't coating nearly as well as I had thought it had in the dark.

Long story
