No Sew Cloth Napkin Throw Pillows

A while back ago I saw the prettiest little pillows. They were white with little black dots and they just plain ol' spoke to me. But they were from a store that we don't have here in Oklahoma. Unfortunately they don't sell online, either. And now, of course, I can't find these suckers anywhere online. I'll update with a link when I do find them. Geez!

So knowing I had little other option, I DIYed some up. BUT I wanted to be able to create a tutorial for anyone who wants to make custom throw pillows but either doesn't have a sewing machine, doesn't know how to sew, or just doesn't like to sew. Because sometimes people who have no desire to be crafty like custom things too!

Crochet Up Some Neon Pot Scrubbers

Crochet Kitchen Pot Scrubbers

I don't like sponges being used in clean up situations... I've just heard way too much about germs that live up in them. But I do like scrubbies. We had a whole pile of the thing that were given as a gift. It was easy to see that they were little crocheted circles of maroon and hunter green, but I couldnt' figure out what the material was for the life of me.

So one day I'm in the craft store when I see one older lady speaking to another older lady who is putting spool after spool of tulle into her cart. "Are you making tutus?" "No, I'm making little pot scrubbers that my grandaughter sells on the internet for me." Whoa - pot scrubbers?

Me being me, I have to go over and talk to this chick and get the skinny and I'm informed that you use the tulle like you would yarn and crochet rounds to make pot scrubbers. I grabbed a neon pink, green and blue right there on the spot.

Build Hanging Drying Racks for Your Crafty Projects

Last week I was working on a project where I had tons of little bitty things that I needed to leave out to dry. While I was in another room Liddy came up and sat on my lap and I felt something was wrong when I was absentmindedly petting her. My little bits and pieces were stuck all in her hair. My guess is she laid down on them just like she's laying down on this project in process in the pic above.

Frayed Edge Rag Throw Quilt Tutorial

Some months ago I found some blue, purple and teal fabric that just floored me. It was perfect. I snagged up half a yard with the idea that I wanted to make a rag quilt with similar fabric. I had little swatches of everything I had in my purse and when I went to a new place I'd add to the quilt stash.

Now as it turned out, not all of them worked out together. That is a disappointing aspect of carrying little swatches when your patterns are mostly huge florals but that's okay. Fabric always gets used around here. I decided that this would be a good project to test out my new Brother sewing machine.

My Mimmie (grandmother) was a seamstress and managed a dry cleaners for most of her life. She knows sewing and she knows machines. My Singer started acting up and she would have me do this or that while she listened OVER THE PHONE. (she is crazy talented) Turns out that my machine went off time and it was going to cost $90 to have it looked at, or I could buy a new tricked out Brother for $130. Now I have 90 stitches I can use, yeah! Even though I've only used 2, yeah!

Now, I've never machine quilted before and so my quilt is less than perfect. Plus my Mimmie sort of explained what all I'd need to do and showed me some of it at my parents' house. But when I called her to aska question she informed me that she doesn't know what I'm talking about and that she can't tell me how to make something she's never even heard of. Great. But it worked out in the end as imperfect as it may be.

The Easy Way to Paint a Framed Mirror

I've spray painted a whole lot of things in my life. Too many to count, really. But since I painted my poodle lamp with glossy white enamel spray paint, I want everything to be glossy white enamel.

My master/half bath is a small little space and it's been in flux for almost as long as I have lived here. I quickly painted it a light, bright blue and used some things from Russell's old place to decorate it up but it was never really to my taste.

Photo Boxes into Easy DIY Medicine Storage & FREE Printables

Easy DIY Medicine Storage DIY + cute FREE Printables with Dream a Little BiggerSomething came to me very, very clearly not too long ago. I was at somebody else's house when it struck. An awful kind of ill that you don't want to happen let alone have to discuss with your host to request the appropriate medication. So what do I do? I sit there and suffer rather than be embarrassed and feeling better.

It's ridiculous and I know that I'm not the only one that does this. I also noticed that I, along with everyone else I know stores the household medicine in the master bathroom. So I decided to move it to the hall bath for easy and embarrassment free access by guests but I had a serious problem... a dinky medicine cabinet that barely contained Russell's hair products let alone a whole treasure trove of wonder cures. So something else needed to happen but on the cheap.
