Ask just about anybody with pets and if they trust you enough, they’ll all tell you what we are all secretly terrified of… that our homes smell like our pets. Eeep! It’s terrible and it’s certainly a warranted fear. We’ve all been in a home where we had to politely hide the twitch of our nose when that smell pervaded all of our senses and screamed THEY HAVE PETS!!!
On a normal day I’m not terribly concerned. I mean, I want my house to smell nicely but it’s when company comes over that I start wigging the heck out. I clean like an idiot (I seriously clean under the refrigerator. I’ll lay all sprawled out on my back with my little stick with a brush that is actually a tool I specifically bought to clean out from under my appliances and clean the heck out of under there).
I’ll scrub my sofa with soap and water and let it dry several times in the days prior to said house guests arrival and I’ll start looking for smell goods to cover up any lingering pet smells that I might not have gotten in my crazy clean. And this season I’m really excited to have found Glade Under the Mistletoe. I normally head right to the pine scents come this time of year and I was pleasantly surprised when I received my deliciously scented candle in the mail.
Apparently my mail lady, T, was as well. When I trudged down my long driveway (I live in the sticks so, no, it’s not just a few steps I’m complaining about) and opened that door to my mailbox this note came gently floating out to the ground. I read it and grabbed all of my mail with both hands and breathed deeply. T was right. My mail smelled fantastic!
As I’ve been working for the past week or so, this candle has sat, unlit near my monitor and the scent has grown on me all the more. It’s pretty, it’s clean and it’s somehow feminine. So I decided to work around it for my bathroom Christmas decor. I’m not the kind of person who is going to have a shower curtain just for the holidays. That sort of thing is NEVER going to happen. So rooms like the bathroom tend to miss out on the treatment that the rest of the home tends to get.
I decided this year I’d dig around in my crafty stash and make something happen on the cheap to accompany this wonderful scent from Glade. Now, I’ll be honest. When I worked this up I technically got mistletoe and holly mixed up. Not going to lie and be like, yeah, the scent is mistletoe but I CHOSE to go holly. Nope, I just plain old got my plants confused! But it’s still cute and most people probably won’t notice anyway!
- For this project you will need:
Green card stock (2 colors)
- Red card stock (2 colors)
- Silhouette cut file OR PDF to hand cut
Cut out all of your leaves and berries. If you don’t have a fancy cutting machine, no worries. These guys are really easy to cut out by hand.
Cluster three leaves together and glue down. Finish by placing 2 or more berries where the leaves meet up.
A little bit of temporary tack on the backside and place on the wall, or mirrors or as you please to help jolly up the joint!
Mine, put on the corners of my mirror nicely complement my pretty burning candle.
And to be sure everybody could see where that delicious smell wafts from, I placed my Glade Under the Mistletoe candle on top of a few books!
This bright, fresh scent is amazing and I just know you’ll love it. It’s a Target Exclusive so be sure to head on out to grab yours (and perhaps raid the dollar bins?)!
Ooh, and you can also get a fab free song! Get This is My Wish by Kevin Ross for FREE from Glade and get that situated into your holiday playlist quick-smart!
