« Shoestaches Revisited! - Mustaches for your Shoes!!! »
Thursday, December 27, 2012
Today I am revisiting one of my favorite DIY projects that I have posted to this blog to date! Shoestaches are mustaches for your shoes made out of felt and they are awesome...
You may be wondering why I am reposting an old project... That is simple. Euclid left me abandoned at my sister's house, and while I prepared posts to automatically post through the day after Christmas, I wasn't counting on my ride not being able to get me home by now. So, please enjoy this kind of an oldie (originally posted April 16, 2012) but a goodie.
This project can be whipped out in about 15 minutes per pair - you will need:
Felt, scissors, matching embroidery thread, needle, shoes & laces, your moustache printable.

STEP 1: Print your moustache printable and cut the shape out. Either pin it on dark felt, or trace the shape on lighter felt.
STEP 2: Carefully cut out the moustache shapes. Go around and clean up the edges when you are through.
STEP 3: Measure out the grommets on your tennies and mark where to place loops to draw your laces through. You'll want your loops to be completely within the marks so that your 'stache doesn't get bunchy.
STEP 4 & 5: Cut out some small rectangular shapes that will be hidden on the backside and act as your lace loops. Tack them on with embroidery thread that matches the color of your moustache. Before sewing on the next loop, be sure that your loop as a nice arc to it, so that your laces will easily fit through. Continue sewing on the next loop.
STEP 6 & 7: Run the laces through the back of your moustache and then lace your shoes. Enjoy!
See y'all on the flip side... or whenever I can make it home! :)
