« Little Wreath Ornaments for Big Impact »

As far as I am concerned when it comes to Christmas, the bigger the better. For years and years I had a standard 6 foot tall tree. One day, I suddenly felt the need to have a more "grown up tree" at least for the living room. I went out and purchased the nicest and tallest tree I could afford (and not be too tall for the ceiling). When I first put that sucker together and had it up, I did feel oddly more grown up. I can't exactly explain the how or the why of it but it just seemed more mature.

Fast forward a couple of years and I still love my nice and fancy tree. I get really bored very easily, though, so I'm often changing the tree's color scheme. Somtimes the theme will last a couple of years, but last year's silver and teal petered out on me before Christmas.  

Since I'm crafting and blogging about it for the first time ever, I thought - why not make every single ornament on my tree myself? It is a big task but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Since I'm making everything, I wanted some larger sized ornaments to help take up some space. Walking through the dollar store I found little grapevine wreaths. A trip back to the Christmas section and I was all set to craft some big impact but little cost ornaments.

For this project you will need (everything I needed I got from the Dollar Tree): 

• small grapevine wreaths
• poinsettia garland (got mine at Dollar Tree)
• natural twine
• decorative sprays (got mine at Dollar Tree)
• hot glue gun

Take your wreath and get ready to start gluing stuff to it. Take your items and loosely begin placing them to see how you would like to start.

Hot glue the beginning of your garland on the backside of the wreathand hold until the glue has set. Wrap the garland around the wreath, tacking the flowers or decorative portions of it down with glue so that they sit attractively.

Use your decorative sprays to fill in any overly blank areas. Use hot glue to hold down. Us a full spray for visual impact and then break apart sprays into smaller pieces to fill in any odd looking gaps (I broke out the little gold pinecones).

When all was said and done, I was able to make four very large sized ornaments that are going to take up some serious real estate on my tree for $10 with only one trip to one store! You certainly can't beat $2.50 for these babies! Hope Sunday is a fun day!
