So I was pretty dang bummed out when I didn’t get a SINGLE compliment when wearing my new shirt. Rob and I were in Houston and I was trying to be on vacation while simultaneously working it wasn’t exactly pretty. I got confused. Things got messed up. My calendar was full of surprises. So it turned out that I had to go to town to buy stuff for a sponsored post I needed to get done ASAP and so Rob drove me (because I was in full on panic mode) to town to buy the stuff I needed to get going.
Since he was so nice about the whole last few days being about me, me, me (I have to go waaaaay downtown for the doctor, I want to spend half the day in IKEA since we are so close, I want to drive 14 hours to see the boys and my seeester!) when he asked to go hiking at the nearby park I was all ‘sure thing bud’. But then when we were heading to the park after buying my work supplies I got an email that gave me an instant migraine.
I was dealing with the fact that scheduling posts while flying down the interstate isn’t necessarily a good idea as I had double-booked 2 posts and not even realized it. In fact, one of them I had thought was an entire month later so it hadn’t even been started yet. And it was due. In 2 days. It was insane. So I had to ask my Rob to turn around so we could go back to the store to buy more things for another post that I had to start right away. Like, RIGHT AWAY.
Now I know that sponsored posts aren’t really the thing everybody wants to see, but that’s how this blog keeps the light on and pays for glitter. I’m sure you know that neither power nor glitter are free. And they won’t take glue or clothes or product some companies want to “pay” me in, when the light bill comes in the mail, either. Other sites have different revenue streams but I do what I need to do to pay the rent and keep doing my dream job (that’s this blog in case you didn’t know :)
While we were running into various stores and taking pictures of various things and buying random stuff not a single person mentioned they liked my shirt. It might have been because I was totally in a huff and I’m normally far more approachable. I was bummed though, that I got not even one single smile. But I think that this shirt is clever and I love it anyway.
Now if you’re wondering if the focus went from me, me, me to my Mr. Rob, unfortunately it didn’t. And we didn’t actually get to go hiking. I was truly hoping for some authenticity with pictures of me wearing my shirt about hiking while actually hiking. Instead wound up snapping pics in the trees in my mom’s front yard we me yelling “is there a house in the background?” “can you see cars or the road?” “don’t forget we’re supposed to be out in the wild!” “I’m HIKING DANGIT!” But Rob is patient and Rob is kind and so we get everything that I needed to get done because we’re a team even when things are lopsided in his favor or mine.
