Normally it takes me a considerable amount of time to muster up the desire to listen to Christmas music. While others are queuing up the Christmas playlists I’m still in denial. I mean I like Christmas music well enough, but not well enough to listen to it in summer just for fun. And I know some of you do that. And that’s cool but it’s not me.
About a week before Christmas I want carols and jingles and sleigh bells! I don’t know what it is finally I’m all FA LA LA LA LA!
But this year I’ve been listening to the music since the first week of December. And that’s just nuts for me. I got a “wow, already, huh?” around the 5th and I gave back a “deal with it!” Since I’ve been listening to lots of Christmas music already this year I’ve been listening to current favorites and some from my past, too
Last year I shared with you my favorite, quiet Indie Christmas songs because that was the mood I was in December 2012. But this year I’ve been a bit peppier in my song choices and even gone back to some old classics from when I was a kid (read Madonna as an old classic, sigh). But seriously we’ve got everything from Blackalicious to Elivs Presley to Blondie to Mariah Carey to Run DMC! This is one totally random Christmas list because it is all of my favorites and favorites know no genre apparently! I tried to make a nice and neat, all in a row type of list and was even informed that I’ve lost my “street cred” as a fan of indie music :) But it wasn’t me and I wasn’t feeling it and if you’ve learned anything about me it is I say what I mean and do what is true to me.
I hope you enjoy my faves, and I hope it is the the most fun Christmas songs playlist you hear! And tell me, what is your favorite Christmas song? I just might add it to the pile!
