I recently got an email from a lovely lady named Sherry who felt under pressure to give handmade gifts for a special event. But the thing is, Sherry likes looking at crafts and DIY posts on the internet, but doesn’t like doing any of this stuff in real life. I totally get it. I like to shop for expensive things on the internet but I will never, ever purchase any of them (figure out how to rip ’em off, maybe, but buy them no way!)
We decided that she wanted to give jewelry and then she told me her budget. So we were looking at things that she could do a lot of for a little bit of money. Oh, and very easily… like the easiest DIY jewelry ever.
And what you see here is what I recommended she go with . And I decided to share the idea, just in case, there are others out there who need to give a lady’s handmade gift but don’t know where to start.
We decided that belt bracelets that were already made were a good bet. Simply buy the belt bands, slide on some alpha slide beads and she was all set. And the thing is, they loved them! But guess what? I’m also sharing them here just in case you need to make some jewelry, especially for a bunch of people like bridesmaids or a dance team or whatever.
All you do is buy the charm/beads in the letters you need and slide them on. Bing, bang, boom. Seriously.
Letters from here for 5/$0.99 or 50/$9.99 and bands from here for 10/$1.99. Now these are from China so they take about 2-3 weeks to come in but they are so much cheaper. And if you have to make 20 bracelets you’re going to save BIG bucks going this way.
And with everything being so incredibly inexpensive, you can even give the same word with several different colored bands. Like here I have black, gold and brown. Functional colors that can go with just about anything!
Just come up with one word that will work well for everybody and you’re set! I obviously went with dream, but you could also do ‘love’ or ‘happy’ or a team name like ‘tigers’… For teams you can also do the team colors and then a neutral color or do all bright colors for friends with purple, orange and red. Whatever goes! Or you can just do the one band they’re most likely to wear. Probably black?
But here’s the best news! I went ahead and ordered everything myself so that I could make sure that the stores we had chosen and whatnot worked out well. And the good news is they did. Now the other news is that I now have 9 other bracelets that read “DREAM” each with a gold, brown and black band and all but no one to give them to… SO we’re going to have a totally informal giveaway here for the true and die hard readers of DALB.
If you’ve gotten this far, just leave a comment about what your dream is by May 15. If only 7 people enter, you’re a winner! If we have 100 by some crazy miracle? I’ll put names into a hat and do an old fashioned drawing. And it doesn’t matter if in the United States or in the North Pole… this is open to all of you lovely readers everywhere! Just be sure to put your email address you normally check in the comment field (I swear I don’t harvest them or anything) so I can give you a shout to get your address and get your bracelet in the mail!
