It’s time to start packing away those warm weather garments and go through that cozy winter gear to see what needs to be kept, refashioned and donated (to make room for cool new accoutrements!).
Unfortunately kiddo clothing is something that can’t really be packed away and saved for next year, fortunately I’ve got a quick, easy and oh-so-adorable method for transforming that summer wear into an autumn favourite:
Squeeze a few more months of wear out of those munchkin tops with a summer to fall refashion!
Grab a short sleeved or sleeveless summer kiddo top and a coordinating longsleeved shirt from your stash.
Measure your munchkin’s ideal sleeve length and then chop off the arms of the longsleeved shirt to that size + seam allowance.
Pop the sleeves into the armholes of the top with right sides facing and edges lined up.
Stitch them together and your fancy new longsleeved top is complete!
My munchkin is not a fan of hoods so I chopped it off leaving enough behind to create a collar.
Then simply folded in the raw fabric edges and handstitched them together with a constrasting embroidery thread.
I wasn’t a fan of the printed on text so I cut a piece of coordinating scrap fabric to cover it up and snagged a jersey bow from my stash.
And gave that hippo a cute bowtie!
That summertime top is now fabuously fit for the fall chill!
