Life has been crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y. I’m worried about just about everyone, some more than others. It’s tax season, which means I’m going to have to write a fat check and writing any kind of check stresses me the heck out! I’ve got a new puppy, the lovely Boston Terrier Shih Tzu mix Carly, who is getting over a urinary infection that has been making house training impossible. She’s peed in the bed, the backseat of my car, in my suitcase, on the sofa… you name it and she’s probably peed on it and never on purpose.
Everyone likes to tell me “don’t worry so much!” and I just want to scream at them “we both know it’s not that easy!” But even if the world wants to fall down around me it is nobody’s fault, not even mine. So when Rob asked if I’d go to the beach with him on a lovely, if a bit chilly Sunday I first insisted I just didn’t have the time. And then after he insisted that I really needed to step away from my life for just a little bit I decided to trust him and take a day at the beach to soothe my soul.
Of course I wanted to bring the dogs because Carly has never been to the beach and Ollie LOVES the beach so much. So we packed up the car, put the harnesses on the pups and I layered my way to the perfect outfit for the day. Eager to try out my new sandals from Rocky 4EurSole, I whipped up a quick, layered outfit around my new kicks. Now it was 75° degrees out and that is fab for most of the day but I knew that when I added a cool, ocean breeze that I was going to get really chilly really quickly.
So I donned a loose, maroon tank and my fave boyfriend cut skinny jeans rolled up at the ankles 2 turns because I dig that! I tossed a lightweight sweater over my purse on the way out and I’m so glad I did! To finish up my ensemble, I busted out a simple gold necklace and a stack of totally boho wood and gold bracelets that complimented my new shoes so well!
Being my first outing in my shoes I wasn’t too sure what to expect because you never do with a new pair. And since this is my first pair of Rocky 4EurSole shoes I didn’t have any prior experience to draw from but I had a feeling they’d be quite comfy. And it turns out they are! The soles feel like the mold to your feet and you can comfortably walk for ages. Even in the sand I had no problems! They didn’t slip like some of my sandals tend to and they stayed firmly on my feet without a single mishap.
And since my new pair fit in with a ton of my wardrobe I can just throw my sandals on any time I know that I’m going to be walking for a while but I want to go around wearing something nicer than my running shoes. Because truthfully, comfort is a big deal for me. Since I work from home I LIVE in flip flops or I just run around barefooted and sometimes shoes hurt. Isn’t that crazy hillbilly right there? But it’s TRUE! Give me comfort or watch me walk around town with my shoes in my hand!
Little Miss quickly tired herself out after an initial freak out. She really thought she wanted to get into the water until the water would start to come after her and she’d high tail it faster than I could manage to keep up with :) Ollie on the other hand frolicked and played and met not 1 but 2 new dogs and one super nice new lady who he liked so much (which was a bit stressful for me at first as she seemed like she would be grabby but after explaining he sometimes gets upset with new people she totally respected his space!) Mr. Rob set up with his camera snapped so many great pics and I got to be the center of attention for a bit! All of these pics are totally his handiwork, didn’t he do great?!?
We finished up our trip to South Padre (a cool 30 minute drive from here, not bad!) with a little tour of the island where the building stops and the dunes take over a bit further out than we’d been before. Then the bay access points we’d never seen before and got so excited that we drove right up to the water!
And you know what happened? I totally forgot all of my worries and just enjoyed something that makes me happy… a day with my guy and my dogs at the beach. Because if I’ve learned anything in the past year, it’s that I was MEANT for the beach :)
