Technique to Make Chevron Friendship Bracelet

I've got plans. Big plans. Big chevron friendship bracelet project plans. In order to be in on these you'll need to know how to make a chevron friendship bracelet so I'm going to show you the basic knots and then how to go all chevron.

The thing is, I'm not a good live air personality sort of person. I've been on TV a few times.

  1. As a child I was interviewed about getting to meet an astronaut. All I could talk about was the astronaut ice cream he gave me and bounce from foot to foot.
  2. As an adult, I was stopped by an Ogle (Okies know what I'm talking about) on my way into the Post Office. I was sick and I was a mess and I was asked who my favorite president was and why. And if you're wondering, I said Taft because he once got stuck in a bath tub.

Product Review - ZzzQuil - Can it Help this Insomniac Sleep?

This post brought to you by ZzzQuil. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've mentioned it a few times before on here I'm sure and it's one part of the reason why I can finish so many craft projects. Unfortunately every single woman in my family all suffer it as well. INSOMNIA.

I go through times when things are great and I can fall asleep after laying in bed maybe 20-40 minutes but then there are the nights where sleep. just. won't. come. I wind up reading a book,  busting out my yarn and crochet hook or something else because sleep ain't gonna happen.

Now some people will say that you can't sleep if you're reading. This is true. But a true insomniac also knows that laying in the dark desperate to sleep only makes things worse. You start to get panicky - but I have to get up at 6, that's in 3 hours! You start to get upset and over emotional - why does everyone else get to sleep? I hate this so much!!!

Easy Rhinestone Jewelry and a Personal Story

Do you have things that you don't want other people to know about? Maybe it's a scar on your face that you keep bangs to help cover up or a medication that you take that you don't want anybody to know about... We all have those kinds of things. For me, it's my dominant right hand and to say I'm a little bit uncomfortable talking about something I try to hide in public is kind of awkward, but it is what it is.

I guess it's been about 5 years or so now that I had a bit of an accident where lost my right pinkie. I had to have surgery to have it reattached. The muscles that side of my palm were also severely damaged. Nowadays my pinkie is deformed and basically non-functional but at least it's there.

That first year I had such a hard time. I'd cry and get upset, why couldn't somebody who just watches TV all day have this happen? Why would this happen to somebody who can't keep her hands still? Why not Somebody whose job doesn't require dexterity?

I don't know how many times I picked up my crochet hook to give it a go, only to have to put it down after some incredibly frustrating minutes. But I knew that I still had a hand and that was cause to be thankful, lots of people aren't so lucky. That's right, this girl with the jacked up hand is lucky :)

Floral to Mod Geometric - Framed Art Makeover

So one day I was driving to town. Not the 'the city' but my town which is still about a 15 minute drive from my house. There's only 3 reasons for me to go this way.

  1. The Country Boy. Our little and slightly overpriced grocery store where the bag boys still take your groceries out to your car and will politely continue on with you even when you insist that you can handle it by yourself. I love this place because mostly because I love employees with good attitudes and manners. You just don't find that anymore.
  2. Snowcone stand. Because I am a freak about snowcones - Bahama Mama extra juice, blackberry with cream, margarita with salt, and good old fashioned blue coconut served as is. The snowcone ladies at the different stands around here know me and they only see me one season out of the year.
  3. Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store for the most amazing milk and ice cream Oklahoma ever has seen. If you're coming to Oklahoma or just passing through and see a Braum's, stop and grab a chocolate shake and some fries. Seriously amazing.

The only one I can rule out is the snowcone stand because it was still too cold out, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. What I do remember is whipping a U-Turn to pick up some roadside road kill. Along with a sign sayin "FREE" were two very floral sofas and a big, big picture in a humongous frame. That frame was gonna be mine. I pulled into their drive and Russell quickly did the grab and wave to the house. Thanks!

There is absolutely no place in this house for this image. It's nice enough but it is SO not my taste. Not even in an ironic way. So I did what I do and I turned it into something that I absolutely love.

And there she is all new and improved and totally Allison-style. Would you have recognized it? I know Russell who did the grab didn't at first. Best part was that this project only cost $3.19 for the new black matte. This is why I will ALWAYS stop to check out free stuff on the side of the road. I've got no shame about it!!!

a Quick Bangle Update

Color blocked wood bangle - Dream a Little Bigger

I absoluely love those everything is a dollar jewelry stores. Don't you? A few weeks ago I snagged this wood bangle. It was simple and it was plain and at the time I liked that.

But though I liked it, I never wore it because it was, as previously stated, too plain. Today I busted out my supplies and decided to give this little fella a very, very quick makeover.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of CB2 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

One of the things that I really want to do at some point in my life is travel. Among my dream destinations are Japan, Italy and Brazil. So when I  heard that CB2 was giving away a Brazilian trip of a lifetime, I knew I wanted to have that opportunity on my blog and available to you!

So what is CB2? CB2 is a more modern store from Crate and Barrel. Their look is clean and contemporary - basically my dream decor from one end of my home all the way down to the other. Their latest collection, debuting on May 2 comes from Robert and Cortney Novogratz. Now if you've ever seen HGTV I'm sure you know exactly who I'm talking about... The beautiful power couple with 7 kids that still manage to have an amazingly stylish home. Now are you excited about this new collection?
