Speckled Curb Chain DIY

One of my big issues is that I tend to make things more difficult than they need to be. And sometimes I have to put a lot of effort into making simpler crafts. Like a LOT of effort.

So I've decided to challenge myself to make projects that are easier and less time consuming. Not all of them, of course. I'm still going to be that chick that makes things like flip flops out of cork and yarn and plaster of Paris head statues from alignate and a foam wig head. BUT I'm going to work harder to make projects that aren't so hard. Yup I'm working harder to make things easier :)

This necklace is an example of just that. I have been wanting to do something with super thick and chunky curb chain for some time now. But I didn't want to do the same old thing that everyone else is doing. And since my pop of color key pendant has always done really well, I started to work something up along that same vein. So, want to make one of your own?

Scrap Busting Paper Earrings

I have previouly discussed on a few occasions my dark little secret... I am addicted to scrapbooking paper. Every trip to the craft store I tell myself that I will not take a trip down that aisle full of beautiful papers because I don't need any more scrapbooking paper. And if I purchase anymore I might actually have to take up scrapbooking. Yeah, I don't scrapbook nor do I really have any desire to.

Upcycled Linens Crochet Rag Rug Tutorial

I'm not sure if it is like this everywhere but I have found that I am able to find sheets at thrift stores for cheap. Like $1 for a set of twin sized sheets or $1 for a queen or king size single sheet. There is no way that I could ever purchase that much fabric from a craft store for $1, ever.

I'll often snap up sheets that have a pretty print with plans to sew from them. But sometimes when you get them home you find little holes and stains that come with normal use and wear and you don't exactly want to be making throw pillows out of them afterall.

Knot Stud Earrings from Jewelry Wire

The more I get into something, like, say making jewelry, the more I want to be able to do. I never would have been content to simply make beaded jewelry. No, I also need to cast my own bangles and make a pair of earrings from nothing but jewelry wire.

Now I tried to follow a tutorial that I had found online that suggested that I use 20 gauge wire. I was surprised at how easily I was able to make the shapes using jewlery pliers as directed. I ran and popped my new earrings in my ears and tried to push on an earring back, only to find that I had bent the wire up behind my earlobe. And somehow I really, really bent that sucker on, too. It turns out that the wire is a weensy bit too soft for backs to slip on.

No Sew Cloth Napkin Throw Pillows

A while back ago I saw the prettiest little pillows. They were white with little black dots and they just plain ol' spoke to me. But they were from a store that we don't have here in Oklahoma. Unfortunately they don't sell online, either. And now, of course, I can't find these suckers anywhere online. I'll update with a link when I do find them. Geez!

So knowing I had little other option, I DIYed some up. BUT I wanted to be able to create a tutorial for anyone who wants to make custom throw pillows but either doesn't have a sewing machine, doesn't know how to sew, or just doesn't like to sew. Because sometimes people who have no desire to be crafty like custom things too!
